If 2003 Makuta had knee articulation I'm certain it'd be in the top 5 bionicle sets

Lehrak is also a Bionicle that means a ton to me! It was my first Rahkshi that I got after a short Bionicle dark ages as a kid, and loved having it

Is it just me or does it look like pahrak-kals and nuhvok-kals shields were swapped? If you look at pahraks and nuhvoks (the original bohroks of those elements) shields it looks to me like the shields were swapped

Kohrak-Kal was my first set and will always hold a special place in my heart. In a few weeks I'll actually be gifting my brother a rebuild of his first set Nuvok-Kal. Even though we're both adults now we still treasure those original sets

I just got Takanuva from a lucky find. I found it in a used toy store, that was selling sacks with random pieces, I noticed the body of Takanuva in one and kept searching for its head, mask, arm, and weapon. I had to buy 4 sacks to get him full, but it was worth it. Unfortunately, I didn`t get the same luck with its bike, and I'm now looking to buy the missing parts. This was one of the toys I always wanted as a kid since I saw the movie. I ended up with Makuta for some reason and I remember building Takanuva with the silver mask from Makuta and other Mata Nuva pieces.

really exited to see 2004 since the sets of thath year were great! also are you planning to make a top 5 on 2010 and did you even like the sets from 2010?

2010 was just the Stars IIRC haha so I guess I'd just have to rank all the sets since there's six sets that year, no use ignoring one IDK I might leave that year since there's very few sets. but we'll see :)

Excuse me, Disneyland in Orlando, Florida? Sir, we have Disney World! Oh, you corrected yourself later, carry on. Like always, I don't have a lot to say about Bionicle because I just wasn't allowed to have the sets when they were first coming out, but I was allowed to keep the Panrahk my cousin gave me for Christmas, he still lives to this day. My friend has Gurahk, but it was years later until I met him. We never did anything with them, he wasn't into Bionicle, but his grandparents kept buying him a number of sets, so if they have any value to him, it's more because of that then because of the actual toys. I also managed to find the instructions to Makuta at some kind of massive yard sale thing that my school did before it shut down, I think, I really can't remember how I found it. Anything that didn't sell was just going to be donated to Good Will, and when I saw it, I was like, well, nobody's going to know what to do with this after it's donated, so I took it. I can't even do anything with it, but hey, if someone want's the instructions to Makuta, I've got them. Now Star Wars on the other hand, 2003 was a good year. Attack of the Clones released the year earlier, new sets were still coming out based on that movie, particularly centered around the Battle of Geonosis, and then there were still classics from the Original Trilogy that had yet to be made. This was also the year LEGO introduced the Mini line, and man, I love those little sets so much. There were a couple sets I missed out on that would absolutely be on my list to pick up if I went back in time, like the original AT-TE (4482), and there was a mini TIE Fighter polybag (3219) I still haven't gotten my hands on. Aside from my quest to try to complete the first 5 years of LEGO Star Wars, I really don't have much desire for the UCS Rebel Snowspeeder (10129) but given the other Empire Strikes Back sets, it was a good choice that year. Oh, it was also the last year that Star Wars sets looked good because they had the superior old grays and browns! It's been downhill ever since... So with all of that out of the way, let's get that list going! *5. 4480 Jabba's Palace (and 4475 Jabba's Message and 4476 Jabba's Prize)* These three sets really need to be bought together, and the 2012 set pretty much invalidates the need to get these three sets, but hey, it was the first time we got anything depicting this location. I place it at 5 because you really do need those two add-ons to make it all worth while, in fact, the add-on's are probably better than the main set they connect to because they help populate everything, but I also appreciate those little add-on sets because they were great Easter Gifts. We need more small stuff like these guys more these days. Imagine getting Boba Fett in a set that was only $7 dollars! Imagine getting essentially 4 characters for $7 with Jabba's Message! I've always liked the Bib Fortuna minifigure and to have him be in such a cheap set is insane. The main set of Jabba's Palace is still not without it's merits though. More exclusive characters like EV-99 are included. There's also a Trans-Green frog for Jabba to munch on! Ans speaking of Jabba, while he isn't able to pivot his torso around like the remakes did I do quite like that this mold allows his tail to move around with the use of those dinosaur tail pieces. *4. 4483 AT-AT* The first AT-AT, and in my opinion it's still the best one LEGO has made in terms of aesthetics. This set is quite rickety at times, I've had the head fall off and smash into a ton of pieces, so you know, not LEGO's best building techniques on display, but it was the first time I ever saw this kind of shaping on a set, and I still find some of these solutions to be quite clever. But back to the aesthetics, the addition of Dark Gray really makes certain areas of the vehicle pop that just aren't present on later incarnations that become more and more monotone to eventually just being nothing but light bluish gray. The printed dishes at the joints of the LEGO are superb and I'm so disappointed they are no longer utilized on AT-ATs and AT-TEs anymore. The set also comes with a White Speederbike (which I never saw in the movies, but hey it looks cool) and the inside of the AT-AT has a few neat pieces in Sand Blue, which is always a lovely color. While only being 4th, this set does have a special place in my heart because I specifically saved my measly $1 weekly allowance, birthday and christmas money to buy it, and then I think it was actually a gift. And I'll never forget the next year when my family bought me a trumpet for band in school that the way to convey just how important it was to keep good care of it was that the trumpet cost 5 AT-ATs. Given how hard I worked to save up and how much I loved the set, my dad made the right call explaining it to me that way. My AT-AT has still seen better days than that trumpet, but it's still alive. *3. 4481 Hailfire Droid* Wheels! Gigantic heckin wheels! While I wouldn't recommend playing with the AT-AT too much, this thing can get knocked around a bit! It's also to scale with minifigures, so that's really cool! Too bad I don't really have much of a Geonosis display, but also, despite being to scale with minifigs, it is a bit too wide to be on a shelf, not to mention propotionally speaking. Still, the idea to recreate the Hailfire Droid with technic was genius, the build was really interesting to see how they'd keep the wheels in place, and it looks great. Far superior to the System versions that are far too small and somehow keep looking worse. And like I said earlier, the old Browns and Grays make this thing look so good, if it were Reddish Brown and Bluish Gray, it wouldn't have as much of a kick. *2. The first wave of Mini Sets* It's a bit of a cheat to include yet another batch of sets in one spot, but trust me, if you get one, you have to get all four. And look, the second wave of Mini sets is also great, but the first wave gave you two vehicles per set, they were little vs. packs. 4484 X-wing Fighter & TIE Advanced recreated the end of A New Hope, 4485 Sebulba's Podracer & Anakin's Podracer recreated the podrace from The Phantom Menace, 4486 AT-ST & Snowspeeder recreated the Battle of Hoth (Yes, there were AT-ST's on Hoth, they're very blink and you miss it), and 4487 Jedi Starfighter & Slave I recreated the fantastic asteroid chase in Attack of the Clones. That's 8 vehicles to recreat scenes across the timeline of the Saga, and it was all for under $20 with each set only costing $4. Actually, that's incorrect because if you bought all 4, the additional parts included in each set allowed you to create an additional 9th vehicle, which was a TIE Bomber! Sure, there's no additional vehicle for it to fight, that would come later, but that's great incentive to buy the whole line, and unlike trying to get every character you want by spending hundreds of dollars, you got really cool pocket-sized vehicles, some with very neat prints, and it was all at a bargain. Honorable Mentions and Top Spot in the reply.

Honorable Mentions *4477 T-16 Skyhopper:* There's absolutely no reason why LEGO should have ever made this, but the fact that you can build the toy that Luke Skywalker swooshes around for a couple minutes is pretty cool. Oh, and I guess it also does fly over Tatooine in the several edits of Return of the Jedi except for the original Theatrical release. *4482 AT-TE:* One Day I hope to obtain it. I know it's not nearly as good as other AT-TEs, but man, I want those Phase I clones, I want that Dark Red speeder, and I want to see AT-TEs return to having the Trans-Neon Green windows, except that can't happen anymore because I'm pretty sure Trans-Bright Green has fully taken over now. *Wave 2 of the Mini Sets:* So 4488-4491 are all great sets, the minis got bigger, and in a way, they are still to scale with the ones from the previous wave, but you lose that bit of additional conflict with only one vehicle per set, and they're not even billed to fight one another like the Microfighters 10 years later would do. There's still the neat combiner model function where an additional fifth model is made, it's a Y-Wing, and I think that's great because you can now have the TIE Bomber and Y-Wing fight, although they're going to be grossly out of scale with one another. *3219 Mini TIE Fighter:* It's a shame I never bought the third wave of Mini Sets directly from LEGO otherwise I would have gotten this as a free gift with purchase for buying all four together. It's not overly special, it's really quite small, but I hate that I missed out because I don't remember ever seeing it on shelves anywhere. *10123 Cloud City:* I know, I am certifiably insane to only have this as an honorable mention, but as cool as this set is and as cool as those exclusive minifigures are, and despite how much I love it, there's a lot of empty space at any given time. You need just about everyone to be at the Carbon Freezing Chamber, leaving the dining room and maintenence area empty. Luke and Vader can fight there or out on the gantry thing, and you obsiously want to have them out on the gantry thing. And half the set's physical size is just a landing pad. Now you can have plenty of sets on that landing pad, but man, that's a lot of empty space. For the time, this set was amazing, and I still love it, but given the high price it demands today because of the figures in it, there's no reason you should pick this up on the aftermarket. If you went back in time, don't be stupid, get it, but for 20 years I've had that thing, and you really only make use of half of the build. *1. 4478 Geonosian Fighter* Who'd have thought that an Episode II set would take top spot, but this set is great. It's a prominent vehicle from Attack of the Clones in the chase to capture Count Dooku, but there's also a big Geonosian gun, and you can man the Fighter with one Geonosian, while the other with wings shoots people with said big gun, and then they're accompanied by two Sand Red Battle Droids. They are the best Battle Droids LEGO has ever made because they are screen accurate in color to Geonosis, not the Dark Orange ones that later became more a staple of the Clone Wars Microseries. If LEGO still made Sand Red, I would be hard pressed not to think that they'd still be using it for Geonosis variants of Battle Droids. But they're not the only great figures, I really prefer these versions of the Geonosians to the ones made for Clone Wars sets. They look really creepy and weird, and again, Dark Gray is a perfect color to make them so unsettling to look at. The big gun is a great side build, and accurate or not considering we ahve a 2013 remake of it, it's really Flash Gordon/Buck Rogers in design, I love it, and there's a great pentagonally symmetric print on one of the dishes, it is incredible to look at. And then the fighter itself is a marvel in LEGO building. SNOT was not super common in sets, and this thing still feels revolutionary to me. I didn't even know that a 4x4 dish could be held on by just studs without making contact to the central connection points before this set. There's not 100% symmetry on the fighter, but it's close enough that it feels really alien and it could be doing all kinds of rolls while the pilot inside stay gyroscopically centered. That's not how it works, but that's how it makes me feel as you build this thing rotating it around every direction. The ball joint for the central gun and the engine out the back? Beautiful. The colors of Dark Orange and Brown? Chef's kiss! The printing? Immaculate. And it was all just $20. It is the best set from Star Wars in 2003.
