I think Hogeboom was the catalyst to the Cowboys' demise. Worst mistake in the history of Dallas.

Probably one of the worst personnel decisions Landry ever made.

@@danieltilson4912 I don't think that's quite fair, the cowboys drafts in the 80's were arguably the worst in the NFL. They literally got NOTHING year after year after year. Its remarkable what Landry got out of the 3rd rate talent he had at most positions in the middle and late 80's. When you don't have talent there are no good choices. By 1988 the cowboys were the least talented team in the entire NFL. Yet they were shockingly competitive in most games despite the 3-13 record. The 1989 team under Jimmie Johnson got trounced in most games. Jimmie turned it around with talent across the board. There is no doubt his career was winding down, but the cowboys fall had way more to do with the talent level than Landry's coaching. If he had just had middle of the pack talent they would have been in the playoffs every year. Even in '88.

I thought that Landry said that Pozderak was going to be the starter? Very risky starting an offensive lineman at quarterback.

Danny white really had the worst luck. he was robbed of going to the super bowl by the refs when against the 49ers in the championship game he really didnt fumble on the last play. his arm was all the way forward when the ball got knocked out of his hand

@@yuma9663 yes but he really didnt fumble if you look at the replay his arm and hand was past his chest when the ball got knocked out of his hand it was clearly an incomplete pass not a fumble

Such a disservice to Danny White, and what he did for the Cowboys. Tom Landry kinda started losing the finely-tuned grasp of the game he'd had for decades. Btw: "The Packer Punter pooched one" 😛

WR's are useless when you can't pass block or run the ball. That's the difference between fantasy football/video games and NFL reality. They also threw 30 INT's in '84 which kills you on offense.

@@gturcott1 Yep, its a shame they were stuck in GB. Jefferson was straight fire in San Diego his first 3 years, and one can only imagine how good Loftin would have been in a warmer climate with a great QB in his prime. He was still really good at the end of his career in Buffalo, still a big play guy. They had good stats in GB but nothing like what they could have been.

@@gturcott1 Lynn Dickie was a good passing QB but he was at the end of his career and GB had a lot of holes on their roster. Not a good line and gawd awful on defense.
