Same thing happened in Benghazi, same thing happened to ODA 574, same thing happened to conventional Marines and Soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq on a daily basis during the GWOT. Politics is the reason why some of those tragedies receive focus and others don’t, the reality is that the risk of sending a quick reaction force into an active fight without good/any intelligence is too high, and every combatant commander has to make the brutal calculation of a handful of dead operators vs a C130 full of caskets + exposing the scope of the USA’s presence in country.

Originally there was supposed to be a QRF team that would be brought in via air support (helicopters) for the mission that day. However, the air support was cancelled due to weather. The ambush happened a bit after that happened. Michelle Black, Bryan Black's widow wrote a book titled, "Sacrifice: A Gold Star Widow's Fight for the Truth" Its definitely worth a read. The official report omits a lot of stuff and it also tries to pin it all on the squad leader, while absolving Africom of really any fault. (Africom ordered the mission the previous day, then ordered the team to drive through the night for the mission on the 4th.)

No you didn't. The uncensored video wasn't released outside of diplomatic channels. Try again.

@@stuntmankustoms8991The footage was released by the insurgents after being edited to insult them etc. They cleaned them of their gear, including JJ's GoPro and posted it online so many people actually did see it not long afterward
@stuntmankustoms89917 ай бұрын
@@seanwood2118 right, SOFREP released the raw footage without the sound. The one with sound wasn't released publicly. The Twitter account that had the Jihadist edit with their boola boola bullshit over it was taken down almost immediately. I've never been able to freely find that version myself. I was in the 3 shop at 2/3 listening to this all go down live over the phone from Bragg. Never been so angry in my life.

I probably haven't commented enough on your videos. Amazing work and great storytelling. You keep the people behind the stories at the forefront of the video.

Yeah I caught that too, but other than that, absolutely top-notch production & story telling; thanks PM for doing your research as well as really putting in the necessary time, effort, resources, etc in order to document this & get the(ir) story out!! It absolutely needs to be told...their memory, and more importantly their actions & ultimate sacrifices must absolutely be honored, revered & kept alive. the American people unequivocally need to be made aware of what happened, not only at that time in Niger with these exceptional soldiers, but also so much other shit that goes on/us done "in their name" as well as at their expense (as taxpayers) too; most of all, their selfless sacrifices must never be forgotten, and thanks to you PM, along with Black's wife authoring "Sacrifice" at least now the story actually has a genuine shot at seeing the light of day & making damn sure that that never, ever happens. Lastly, the behavior & actions of both their superior officer(s) from their command element, and even more so concerning what, how, why, etc the way Congress handled this, is nothing short of unforgivable & inexcusable... straight fucked, unashamedly hypocritical, and about as downright despicable, disgusting, treacherous, contemptuous, I can go on... the double-standards & blatant betrayal of these incredible, brave, exceptional sons of the nation absolutely merits quite a few heads rolling in "upper management" to say the very least. Simply put, the way that they were treated by the very people who they not only served but should've been their biggest & most ardent, capable supporters & the first ones in line to have their backs (imho) incidently turned out to be the backstabbers of the worst kind, and it's past due time someone needs to fuckin pay. The way this was handled both during the actual situation, and again throughout its aftermath (apparently STILL to the present day) is profoundly un-American. Rest easy fellas, you more than earned it... and you are not, nor will you ever be, forgotten. Thank you for your service, so that i/we may enjoy our freedoms and everything else we have precisely because of y'all, and men & women like you... past, present & (God-willing anyways) in the future days yet to come. My buddy was with 3rd Group and his ODA had just left there a couple months before. All he would say was it was jacked up & down the line of command. Shame the ring knockers still try so hard to cover up for each other. The truth usually comes out eventually.
