A 21-gun salute is the most commonly recognized of the customary gun salutes that are performed by the firing of cannons or artillery as a military honor. It was a sign of peaceful intentions when ships did it because they (the other side) knew it would take time to reload the cannons.

this song makes me think of veteran suicide, and those I've served with who took their own lives

Green Day is punk rock, not Emo.

"21 Guns" addresses the topic of patriotism. It brings up 21st Century Breakdown in a lot of ways, and the 21-gun salute for someone that's fallen, but done in an arena rock 'n' roll sort of way. Also Millie, you might want to listen to the baseline from the broadway version of 21 Guns.

I love watching your reaction videos and how into the music you get. I'm someone that also relates to songs that some might find hard to listen if the context is especially sad and or relatable. Those are the ones that help me deal with whatever. I would love to see you react to some Motionless In White

This is the 16th song of their Album "21st Century Breakdown", which was the album that followed their successful "American Idiot" Album though because "American Idiot" was so successful they took some additional time writing this album. It released 5 years after "American Idiot". For me personally this is their best album to date (though I also think that "American Idiot" is amazing). The reason for me putting it above American Idiot is simply that the songs feel much more varied on "21st Century Breakdown" If you want to react to more modern GreenDay I can say basically every song from 21st Century Breakdown is in my opinion at least good BUT I will (as I do for other people reacting to GreenDay) say that you should react to "Forever Now" from their "Revolution Radio" Album because I think this album get's too little attention and in particular that specific song, with it having almost no reactions on KZbin Also, based on your description as a "Singer Bassist Musician" I think you should really check out "Royal Blood" though thinking about it you probably have already heard them given that you are a Singer Bassist. If not: They are a duo from England that consist of the Drummer and a "Bassist + Singer" who in addition to playing bass-lines also uses the bass as a guitar

So you basically talked during the whole song instead of actually listening to the music huh.

@@richardvondal7731 During the song ? Where she or her viewers can't hear anything and really listen to it ? More like commentary video, than actual reaction.
@richardvondal77317 ай бұрын
@snookem2004 I guess for me the talking is her reacting and for me at least, I can be talking to someone and hear what someone else is telling me. So I didn't give much thought to it bc if it was me in that situation, I'd still have a grip on what's going on in the song. Used drive my wife nuts when she'd be talking to me and one of the kids would come say something and I'd answer them. She'd say "you're not listening to me" and I'd repeat back what she said word for word lol
@snookem20047 ай бұрын
@@richardvondal7731 For sure that is one thing. but again the main goal here is to listen to the music and react to it, this is music we are talking about, there are a lot of layers and different sounds to pick up on, especially when it's her first time of listening to it, the changing of the pace and the climbing of the tempo during the end. I don't know, maybe this is just me, but when I listen to a song I give it my full respect and attention in order to truly appreciate it.
@richardvondal77317 ай бұрын
@snookem2004 I agree ...like I said I didn't give a whole lot of thought bc I am able to at least have a good idea of what's going on. On the other hand though I know that I can pick up something I've never noticed in songs that I have listened to for 30 plus years. That's why I end up re-doing so many of my drum covers bc I pick up something new or after listening to something several hundred times, a new idea will come to me lol
