To each their own but I actually really enjoyed some of Tom Kings miniseries like Mister Miracle, The Vision, and Strange Adventures. Mister Miracle being my favorite of them all. Don’t get me wrong I can see how his stories aren’t for everyone, his dialogue is sometimes worded very weirdly and I find myself having to read some conversations twice. ( also yeah I think his run on Batman with Gotham and Gotham Girl was pretty wack )

Want to see Adam Strange at his lowest? Look no further. He seems to be a writer that puts themes first, ahead of characters and even plot. So prior characterization is largely ignored and plots seem a bit contrived, at least from what little I've read.

As a GL fan i want to be optimistic but the more i hear about this show the less excited i am. First the old man Hal jordan i don’t like because hal has never done justice in live action and in the public eye is a joke thanks to the 2011 movie and the jokes in deadpool, he needs to be done right but considering he will be played by an older guy and it was reported that kyle contract only includes the first season only it doesn’t look good sadly, (also no carol ferris apparently) Hal and John should never have a 30 year gap between each other. Second it being grounded, i understand the budget may be limited but at the same time it doesn’t interest me watching a “realistic” take on the green lanterns when the sci-fi elements is what makes me attracted to the comics. My perfect take on a lantern show would have Hal, guy, john, and kyle all together and maybe you can bring in simon baz and jessica cruz in at the some point. I think it's fair to mention that James Gunn doesn't usually adapt many of the characters well. I can't say about his other films but Guardians of the Galaxy are very different from the characters he was adapting. It is clear that Gunn read the comics but when he makes his adaptations it seems that he is willing to vary some characters quite a bit for the adaptation. We will see what he will do in the DCU

If they really wanted that true detective ideology complex, they could’ve done the Sinestro & Hal mentor/mentee relationship. Build a trilogy first about them, then add Guy , John, and Kyle for the saga. Hal getting trained by Sinestro where slowly he befriends and respects him. Then their ideologies start clashing when they have to work together on missions and war scenerios. Later as the relationship strengthens, Sinestro trusts Hal and shows him his world of Krougar, in which Hal is shocked to see the world ruled with an iron fist, contradicting his belief of individual freedom compare to Sinestro’s “giving up freedom for security”. Hal snitches on Sinestro to the guardians. And then boom Sinestro gets banished and returns a THE YELLOW LANTERN

Truth be told, I wouldn’t be surprised if Guy gets killed off in his first appearance so the ring goes to Stewart in time for the show. Do I want that to happen, of course not as Nathan deserves to play a GL in live action, but it’s a possibility to explain why he isn’t in the show.

@blooddemonguy7734 I hope so because, right now, the three projects that exist in the new dcccu (Detective comics connected cinematic universe?) all have the same wacky, overboard music vibe that Gunn has already beat into the ground with the guardians films. There it all worked, here it feels tired. Peacemaker and elements of Squad had moments to breathe, but the opening two eps of creature commandos found a way to overdo or undermine even the heaviest of concepts with music and goofy laughs. I'm just worried going forward, and I wasn't until now.

The thing is, it's 100% Ryan Reynolds' fault that Hal will be an older man and will probably not be in more projects, the story being more grounded, and there seemingly not being that many comic book characters in it. Ryan's constant bashing of that one movie has convinced everyone that Green Lantern sucks and if the next Green Lantern thing is even remotely similar to that movie, people in the industry are convinced it's not gonna be profitable. If Ryan didn't keep talking shit about that movie, people would have forgotten about it by now. I'm still gonna walk with them on this, and see how they do it. But if it's trash I'm in Ryan Reynold's walls.

I'm praying the series is good. The casting is okay, but I am worried about everything else. I mean, a Green Lantern show with a tv show sized budget doesn't really sit well with me. This needs to be good because ever since Aquaman was changed into cool dude Jason Mamoa, the Lantern hate has been wild, saying that for some reason they are the lamest in the Justice League. Like there is no way space cops with deep lore and genuinely creative superpowers are losing the popularity vote to a guy that talks to fish.

I like the idea of it being a series. Once John joins the Justice League maybe season 2 can be about Kyle Rayner and each season can follow new Lanterns. Simon Baz, Jessica Cruz, Kilowag etc. Maybe get a whole prequel season dedicated to Hal and Sinestro or do the Arrow thing where they tell a story in the past and present simultaneously. So many possibilities with the Lantern Corp. Since the shows called "Lanterns" and not "GREEN Lanterns" maybe you get a season exploring the Spectrum. That'd be awesome. Im hyping myself thinking of all the options while typing knowing most of them will never happen lol

what i'm hoping is that, while John becomes the primary Justice League Green Lantern, Hal can spearhead a set of prequels solely focusing on the Green Lantern Corps. Sorta like how during the DC Rebirth era, you had Jessica and Simon as the main Justice League Green Lanterns (aswell as the "Green Lanterns" run focusing on their growth as Lanterns set primarily on Earth) and Hal, John, Guy and Kyle leading the "Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps" run (amazing art btw, Rafa Sandoval knocked it out of the park) which was a continuation of the Johns run.

My reservation is due to Hal and John having a large age gap aren't they peers in the comics. Hal Jordan and John are equals. I just hope we get a GL animated series with Hal Jordan in the lead as an honor guard (like creature commando and blue beetle) while John is the sector 2814 lantern. The problem is when Tom king f*cks up he really messes up assassinating some characters along the way.

Im not gonna lie; Kyle Chanler as Hal Jordan is probably one of the best castings for an older Hal Jordan but I still dont love the idea of Hal being played by an actor who's almost 60, but he's certainly a good pick to play an older veteran Hal Jordan specifically. Im just sad this implies that Hal won't be staying around in the DCU for long as Im scared they'll adapt the Parallax arc in this series and then kill off Hal Jordan just like that without exploring his character, his emotional complexity, his rocky but compelling romance with Carol Ferris and how much of a quintessential character he is to the Green Lantern mythos and characters like Sinestro who's rivalry is too iconic to ignore, as his rivalry with Sinestro could've made for such epic built up cinematic conflict for a trilogy of GL films. I worry that since they're making Hal older, they may not adapt his iconic rivalry with Sinestro since Hal and Sinestro are such pivotal rivals in the Green Lantern comics, given their history as former partners and how different they are with such a unique dynamic, as I also fear they'll just make Sinestro John Stewart's arch enemy instead, as even though they have fought before, they don't have that interesting relationship and juxtaposition that makes Sinestro and Hal so entertaining and thematically complex as they're basically former friends who had different ideologies of how to truly overcome fear and they couldve made us care about this relationship to make their rivalry more impactful like Anakin and Obi-Wan or Optimus Prime and Megatrons complex rivalries but with Hal and Sinestro instead. Look, I love John, as he was always my favourite GL when I was growing up and I have no doubt Aaron Pierre is a superb casting choice for John Stewart, especially if youve seen him in Rebel Ridge, as he truly seems to care about the character by giving a good depiction of him and Im happy John will have a major role in the DCU as a likely founding member of rhe Justice League. However, there is a small part of me that still wishes that they could have just started with both Hal & John sharing the spotlight equally as the main GL's of the DCU, with Hal in his late 30's to ealry 40's up in space & John on Earth with the Justice League, but whatever. Im still very excited for rhe show as a huge Green Lantern fan but I just really want this show to be good and finally show people how interesting GL can be as a character and how fascinating the lore and mythos is as Green Lantern if done well has the potential to become*DC's Star Wars*
