This was it for "on the roof" for a bit. Next will be a lot of ladder work to remove the rest of the home's old gutters and then frame and build the eaves to support the plywood overhangs.

Y'all did a great job! I'm glad Josh could help with his finger still bandaged up. I'm glad to see you son is comfortable up there. My Granddaddy made us all get up on a roof. He was a part time chimney sweep and we helped him when we could. He was a full time fire fighter! 😊
@sam-and-angela4 жыл бұрын
Josh was a huge help for sure! Elijah (my son) wanted to be up on the roof more than I would let him. :) I only said okay when I knew he could be sitting in a spot and I was nearby. He's too young to appreciate the danger of falling -- that comes with age I guess. LOL Otherwise he was great -- safe, and helpful handing tools and watching the process. My dad was a fireman too!

I just got done replacing a roof on one of our 1974 units. Took the whole 2x2 roof off and replaced it with a 4x4 roof with overhang on all four sides, topping it off with shingles. It was a pain in the butt, but totally worth it. Good job, boys.

The next few bits aren't as dramatic or interesting, but all part of the process... I'll be working on the ladder a lot finishing removing all the old guttering and then framing and building the eave framing to properly support the plywood overhangs.

The roof is looking so so nice. So excited to see you continue. Our first home we bought just before my husband went to NAM in Fayetteville, and it was 600 sq ft.........we lived it in for 10 years and the children were 10 and 11 when we finally sold it and were transferred to OK. Be it ever so humble there is no place like home. No matter how big or small........what I remember most was ease of cleaning and the laughs and giggles that echo through any home. The heart of the home isn't the size or quality but rather the hearts of those who live there. Your home is going to be so nice, no debt and as you age and the boys do you will be so glad you are debt free and can reach out to higher things if you so desire. Stuff traps us and keeps us hostage to take care of it........free time and great memories is what I would rather have........... and actually we do at our age. Love you guys, your channel is great and I can't wait to see the next vlog! Blessings

We did a roof over with poles in the ground. New roof doesn't touch the old roof or the Home. We added six feet of extra roof on the back. to add on. I got all new windows and doors. Added a 6x30 cement porch with roof in the front. Plus all new metal tin on the exterior walls. We added a garage and room addition in the front years ago. So making a single wide even bigger than a double wide. I have to put my video together as we are just finishing up the whole thing. Good job on yours!

Hello Sam & Angela. Just started watching your KZbin channel. I watched you guys change out your bathroom 🪟 and fell into the 🐰 🕳️. I have been binge watching since yesterday while doing 🧺 and 🏠 chores. I'm on #50 of 122 on the remodel playlist. I watch Doug & Ashley too. I remember them mentioning you guys when they were still doing the remodel in Michigan. I DIY also. So glad I paid attention when Dad would fix things around the house. My question for this video (roofing project) is did you remember to use the plywood clips? My 👀 aren't that great so couldn't tell. Thank you.😊

We are probably closer to each other than our other brothers for sure. Re: your roof... I'm no roofologist. :) If your roof isn't leaking and looks good I'd say they did good! In seriousness, there's so many roof designs and options based upon your home, the area you live in, etc. that if the afore mentioned is good, then you're probably fine. Again, I didn't graduate from the college of roofology! :-)

Great job. Josh and you knocked that out. FYI. Lots of microwaves over stoves don't vent outside. Out of the box many default to recirculating the air through a carbon filter (that should get replaced but never is). You remove a screw, rotate the squirrel cage fan to get them to exhaust upwards.

That's the one thing I wish we did that we didn't when "building" our home... no concrete footings. It wasn't required for building and we didn't know any better. We've not had settling issues that we've noticed, but really need to get it checked. We were told our land was super solid (by the home installers) and we shouldn't have any issues but who knows. :-\ We've wondered about converting our home over to concrete footings but it's a daunting idea. To crawl under there, dig the footings by hand, pour them by hand, then somehow move the home over onto them. Hmmm...

It's looking good. Are you going to attach some 2x4s along the edges at the ends of the Mobile home? I noticed that when you were driving the staples the whole roof edge was moving up and down. By putting a 2x4 framework , it will greatly strengthen up that area at the ends up to the roof peak.

We were both so thankful that we made it through the three days' work without any injury or major issues too! There are two small vents on the opposite side of the home's roof from this video (the side we did first). They're the plumbing vent pipes for the bathrooms. I sealed around them with liquid flashing to keep them watertight until the final roof is installed. Thanks Leah!
