Greenhouse Update - August 2017

You do a beautiful job with your plants. I wish I had the space you do. I always had trouble with my falcata as well. When they changed the genus to Vanda I decided to start growing mine bare-root like I do my vanda's. Since then the roots are crazy and it has bloomed for me for the first time. Double Spike on one with only three flowers, the other one had one Spike with six flowers. I'm growing them in champagne glasses. They're so cute.

Ceresta Collins that's a good tip. I'm going to try that with a few of my falcatas. I've killed a bunch of them already, even the mature ones. I'm a falcata killer for sure!

nice tent sale find...that Loog tone..wow..might have to find that plant...Nice Stanhopea too... wish one of my many would show me a spike. Love all your mounted Phals...they do look great...i got a houlettia this year too and i got a spike on mine....beautiful blooms...some of mine blasted so i need to water it more next year but stunning plant..glad to see yours doing so well.

TD Moore thank you! The stanhopea only blooms for three days. What the heck. So sad. Haha. The houlletiana is AMAZING right!? I saw some online that have a ton of keikis and spikes. Goals.

yes the one i have is really big and came with 2 spikes but most of the blooms blasted and i got one....but that one smelled so heavenly..it is amazing!

...you have a beautiful collection, no doubt from your very green thumbs....you could try a systemic like Imidacloprid, sold under Bayer products.......Ive sprayed African violets with it, and no harm......again, a incredible collection.

Michael Pye I go to random orchid society meetings and I donated a bunch to a president of an orchid society so he could give them out to new growers. But I'm a collector and hoarder lol! So I keep on getting more and more. Woe!

Enjoyed your update. Good video. Have you ever tried Spinosad on the plumeria? Check it out and see if it will work on mites.

Patricia Sholar Freund nope I've never even heard of it. I'll check it out! I definitely need something to control those mites. Last summer the mites were too much so I chopped off all the leaves (after I fried them with alcohol of course. My bad). This year I had to constantly check on them. Lots of work!
