Really helpful to me. When I was widowed 5 years ago at 58, I didn't want to be that name on my family members or friends cell ID that evoked "Oh, what does SHE want now?" so my mantra became "I have to be self-sufficient now." It's been terribly isolating. I should re-imagine myself, I think. Thank you, Mr. Okeyo and Green Renaissance.
@eshackleton82483 жыл бұрын
Jenna, I applaud your thinking. Since young, I realized that not all people have altruistic hearts so I became very self sufficient and self reliant. No family member or friend can help us long term and it always reverts back to our grit and foresight to move forward. My best wishes to you.

You are right, re-imagine yourself. When you get up take note of God's love for us...we can get up off our beds, we could see, we could feel the air, we could hear the sounds around...what a blessing. My granpa passed last month at 93, and he was not sick at all. He would walk read papers play with his dogs everyday until that last day...and he said to me, never stop interacting with others, laugh & go out...connect with friends. It really ammazed me the variety of age group of ppl he interacted with. These videos are a reminder of his words to me...

This is a beautiful message. It was his story, but it is also ours in our varied lives. Mine is one of huge sorrow from the loss of my son. But, I found so much meaning, hope and inspiration from this man. Our lives are different worlds in the physical sense… but we ARE connected in our humanity. Thank you for the surprise gift this morning. It brought tears to my eyes, and hope to my soul. I will keep it forever, and open it again and again to remind me. I am going to share this message. The world needs it. I know this may sound silly, like it will change the world… but I know it can help change each person in their own struggle. And, this together with the human community, maybe we can start a change.

I was in tears 45 seconds in. Danielson is so articulate. The way he talks about reaching for hope like a vapor...how confusing it is when something you identified with as so solid is no longer there...how life invited him to literally enter into the place of his past trauma as what would now be his path to healing. What a powerful reminder of how our pain can be the door into a new kind of freedom. I love how he referred to the people in his little community of loved ones as lights in darkness, and how much this film speaks to embracing the exact life we have and finding the beauty and invitations in it. Thank you for introducing us to him. And thank you, Danielson, for your generosity in sharing the priceless wisdom you have gained.

So true, outwards we change, age, get wrinkles, deteriorate,... But that doesn’t change our character, our inner beauty,... Thank you for sharing these thoughts with us Julie. Warm wishes, Justine and Michael. 💚

As he felt the connection between the nature and our souls while he was floating on tge ocean i had that realization while looking at the early morning sky, The rising sun,clouds,trees dancing with the wind took me to a level somewhere i can love anyone or anything on this earth I forgot my identity as a human being I felt that we all are parts of this huge sourse,the mother nature💐💐💐💐

There are many injured and retired rugby players that should listen to this. A game where your thinking is driven by excelling in physical ability. Yes, the mental side of the sport is a key feature, but you define yourself (and others define you) by your speed and strength, in various combinations. When that identity is ripped away an empty husk of a person remains. My wish is for every ex-rugby player to hear this 🙏
@ReflectionsofLife3 жыл бұрын
That would be amazing - we think that it applies to so many things in life, not only after injuries, but also many people who retire can end up feeling lost and alone. The ocean is a wonderful healer 💚 Michael and Justine

This is like what happened when I got chronic fatigue, and have had to take medical leave for work. I also had a big breakup at the same time. Very dysregulated, my is life is changed forever. I am healing but can never go back to my old life, any part of it really. I was very definied by that old life too. Its OK to go into Hermit mode at some points in your life. Reset and readjust, cut out the noise of the world and opinions of others. I love this healing you have done in the ocean, reconnecting with self and nature at the same time. The beauty of acceptance and wholeness found in solitude. 💞

OMG as a former amateur bodybuilder, I soooooo resonate with what he said about your perception of your physical body being a certain way, and then when it doesn't work like it used to despite your continued pushing it to be that way, man oh man, can I relate. The very thing I spent HOURS in the gym doing and HOURS of 'proper' eating to obtain a certain look and physique, is the very thing that drove me into an orthopedist's room for shoulder and knee repairs and lots of physical therapy. I still have aches and pain that won't go away, but there's only so much Ibuprofen your liver will tolerate. So my choice is to just get on with life or to shrivel up and not do anything. It is really really hard to let go, but the Buddhist in me says I must for peace. Not sure which is tougher: being in the gym, having pain, or letting go...Thanks again for a wonderful video, as usual.
