Being a single man in Thailand is nothing but wonderful. BUT, we all eventually get old. I have been married to my Thai wife for 23 years. I am now 79 years old and I simply need her for everyday living. I don't get around as well as I once did. Added; My wife considered herself an old maid at 35 years old. She was never married and had no children. She is more than 20 years younger than I am. I'm way too selfish to marry a woman who has children. My wife is also a hard worker. She is a farm girl and has a rice milling business. Her business does well and she stays very busy but still has time to take care of me.

A coworker retired moved to Thailand. He made his first big mistake. He let a Thailand lady move in. She kept asking for more money and money for her mother. He decided to end the relationship, but she wouldn’t leave. In Thailand, you cannot kick out a woman you’re having a relationship with. She has a right by law to stay. So this is what he did His last month of his lease, he moved to another apartment across town. He told management what was going, and his girlfriend could stay the last month of his lease. Let her know if she damages anything she has to pay. They said not a problem this happens all the time. Once she got back to the apartment, she blew up his phone. He told her you should’ve moved out when I asked you to. I’m not going to talk to you any more and he blocked her.

The main reason we do these things is that back in the west either divorced or single you are relegated to the trash pile that no one wants and if they do take you on its usually to see what they can drain off you . We then go to LOS and are treated like a King and told 5 times a day how handsome you are and how much they love you plus usually the sex is on tap ... at least for the first 12 mths 5555. Its then the cracks start to appear with requests for bike for brother , house for mama/pupa , rubber plantation for family , and the list goes on ... just one big merry go-- round I was talking to a English female bar owner , yes she owned Triangle Bar and she said the prices the girls ask for are over the top and IF you do pay it shouldn't be more than 5,000baht a month !! at that time fellas were paying 20,000baht a month and higher !! In my mind your better off living on your own and doing short time ( better getting a short time room ) or a rub and tug at the soapies , never let them back to your room any more than 2 times or they then start to get accustomed to being there . There is nothing wrong with living on your own , the thing with LOS you can get anything you want anytime you want , also no need to waste money taking them out for breakfast , dinner ..... nothing wrong with eating on your own = cheaper JUST MY THOUGHTS

Don’t be like me. I got married to a Thai woman. She was a manager of a business, very professional. I was always told don’t get mixed up with a bargirl, so I thought I would be ok. I also refused to pay sin sot, so she paid her own to save face. Anyway, took her back to the US and the first few years were great, then it inevitably turned bad and I ended up losing half my money, which was hundreds of thousands of US dollars. This Thai woman became rich beyond her wildest dreams, all because she played the long game, I guess? So instead of retiring in my early 50’s, I kept working because I wanted to regain my wealth. Now, I’m in my late 50’s, I regained my net worth and then some, actually made a lot more money than I would have if I had retired. I’m about to retire for good to Thailand, and this time, I won’t be stupid enough to marry. I’m also not going to buy property or a car, I’m going to rent a condo and walk everywhere, or baht bus. The reason we all love Thailand is the beautiful women, so don’t limit yourself to one.

Cautionary tale regarding prenups in the USA. I divorced my Brazilian wife, married 8 years, last December. We had a prenup. At mediation the outcome should have been predictable, right? At mediation she had an attorney. She was coached into saying she didn’t understand what she was signing (native portuguese speaker, but fluent in english), and so they would go to court to have it thrown out. The mediator told me privately “you have a business decision to make. They can, and will, take you to court over this. She’ll probably lose, but maybe not. If you win, from experience, you’ll pay about $50,000 in legal expenses, both hers snd yours. If you lose, you’ll pay the first $50K AND an amount beyond the prenup. Plus, going to court will drag out the divorce. (and i’m trying to retire in Thailand ASAP). So, i upped the prenup offer by $50K and she accepted that (she knew should likely lose in court, and not see the $50K lost to the lawyer and court). A curveball for sure, but still, it was worth it.

Mr Greeny... The obvious question at hand here is the advantages and disadvantages of Co habitation laws. The ONLY negative example you gave was a couple that were together for 16 years!! This is not a typical situation. IF you Co habitate with a Thai GF for 1-2 years. DID NOT buy a house/condo together and you split up. You are pretty much Golden. Very unlikely she tries to go through the courts to get some support frtom you as there would be little given even if successful. The 1-3 years co Habitating with no major purchases is a sweet spot. Most men coming here from Western countries think its the same as Common-Law laws in Canada/USA/Britain. Its not. Its way more lax. Especially if like I said you stay away from major purchases while together.

Nice video Greeny. I kind of think a bit differently to most here, I think its a good idea to buy a Condo, especially as you can lock up and leave, if you want to travel, knowing you can return at anytime and home is home, all of your belonging's are there, your 'peace train' don't have to move around all the time, if you find your area you like, why not buy there? Im not saying race in and buy, your very first trip there but find your feet, your area you love and if you plan to stay, then, I would buy. As far as girlfriends are concerned, we all know when we find the right one at our middle age, I think I would as I have done plenty of dating now, had my family, Im not an easy touch, these day's, doesn't mean I'm hard either, just smarter, if it doesn't feel right, it normally isn't, trust your gut feeling, it's normally right

I loved the part about the guy who believed that foreigners cannot open a bank account. What a brilliant idea it was, to put a pile of money into the stranger's name 🤔💡🥳! But I have a couple of my own bright ideas: 1. Do not tell them that you own a condo where you live. Tell them that you rent it from your friend who still lives back in your home country. Do not let them know that you have a property they can target. 2. Have accounts in 2 Thai banks. One should have a little more than the minimum required by Thai authorities for extending your visa. Do not access another account with the bulk of your savings in their presence. No need to let them know that you have a juicy retirement fund. Let them know that you still work a little and earn your living. This way they will know that as long as they stay with you they have your support but as soon as they decide to leave they will have nothing to take away from you 😉

Greeny. I first came to Thailand on a trip that was 10 days long. Holy shit, I was a scumbag. I had the most lady’s in a 10 day time period ever. Wilt chamberlain status. I did it because I was testing the limits. As a tourist there were none but was that what I wanted at 40? No. Next trip, I partied solo for a day or so then met a girl and spent the rest of my trip with her. I did this for about 28 more times for 16 years. Yes I met women that we continues talking while in California long distance style. Very careful not to send money. One or two of these women were with me on more than one trip. Zero drama. Had USA girl friends in between those trips, never traveled while in a local relationship Had I lived in Thailand I probably would not have gotten married. Never got married here either till my wife. Our jobs as humans is to find exceptions as partners. This is my mindset: don’t date someone in Thailand that gives you the USA woman BS. TRANSACTIONAL? That works only for vacation girlfriends. I taught my wife from the beginning. Don’t waste my money because it’s your money too. I have a house here in the USA and she has a house in Thailand. If we got divorced neither of us could get the others house. For sure id owe alimony. I’m 61 and have been with over 500 women. Never met one like my wife. We breakup now, I’m never finding another her. Every dude thinks their girl is the one at one time. I get that. Find a girl that’s genuine, treat her like a partner. If she doesn’t give you that back don’t marry her. If she does then marry her. It’s that simple. Found one like that. My wife. :)

@@Roy-kv6zr I don't owe anything because I'm not getting divorced. In america though, if your wife doesn't work, or if she makes less than you, most of the time, you will have to pay alimony for a time period based on how long you are married. @craighope-johnstone56399 ай бұрын
@@Joker-2357 it greatly depends on many many things. How long you lived together, how the relationship ended, how integrated your lives were, financially especially. What type of person she is, does she have her own money, does she know how much you are truly worth etc etc. Greeny is quite correct when he says just because you were not legally married does not mean you have no legal obligations when breaking up with a live in girlfriend. While not exactly the same as the Western world’s common law partner Thai law may find in her favour if she takes you to court. Best to reach some form of agreement and have it documented. Or as many do, take your chances and move apartments while not leaving a forwarding address 🤔

It is not different from our relationships with all other service providers: internet and mobile providers, insurance companies, streaming services, you name it. When they ask too much we cancel their service and move to another provider with better "value for money" ratio. We should always remember that it is absolutely the same thing with women in Thailand: they provide their service for some money. If their service is not worth the money they ask just cut off and move to another provider. And do not let snare you in any type of a binding contract. It is as stupid as signing a contract that forces you pay your mobile operator a lifelong alimony just because it is hard for them to continue their business after you have cancelled their service 🤦 Living together means she has a right to demand alimony? Then no living together!

Blahaha Now every woman wants to know what I do for a living? That way they can judge in their mind how much they can get out of you right from the start. I’ve never been married, and only let one lady have a little closet, space and a drawer. That shit worked when I was younger!!! That kind of behavior makes for a lonely old man! Lol I’m getting my punishment now for having cold feet when I was younger. Or at least that’s the way it seems. I’m going to find myself a Filipina in late 40s to early 50s no need for any young ones anymore. Just want a good companion. After a year or two, she wants to get married that’s fine. Actually, that would be very doable at this point in my life. Hopefully I’m through paying my dues for being an asshole when I was younger!!! 45-58 has really sucked!!!
