No matter what there will be blowback, but Kraft’s going to keep him as HC because he talked all offseason and the beginning of this season how he knew he would become a great coach. He put all his chips into the Mayo basket, to the point of signing him to a deal to become the next HC once Bill retired (and eventually fired, instead), rather then interview other possible candidates, whoever they may be once that time came about. Kraft made it clear he wanted Mayo as the next guy, so to me he’s going to keep him for at least 2, maybe 3 years. No matter what, Kraft is the reason for this coaching staff and front office. I do want them to get a fair shake, but they were set up to fail, and honestly whoever took over after BB was.

Kraft going cheap on the coaching staff is almost as bad as Bill bringing on Patricia and Judge to run the offense. How they've put themselves in this position again where they have a young quarterback in need of guidance and a competent coaching staff, but have once again surrounded him with less than ideal people is beyond explanation. Giving Mayo the job should have gone right out the window once Bill couldn't get the franchise back on track. It would have only made sense to hire Mayo if Bill left the team in a good spot, but since that didn't happen, everyone should have been blown out to bring in a staff with experience.

I read a good piece by Mike Tanier today, an out of town journalist. He contests that the front office situation was not all Bill. Patriots lost 8 games by one score, and missed field goals that would have won them some games. That is with the QBs throwing non stop interceptions last year. Defense was best in league in yards per carry and 9th in net yards per attempt passing with insane number of injuries to secondary.
