What nobody on this page seems to remember is that mr. bissonette did this over ten years before on the Buddy Rich scholarship Tapes(same song in fact) and if you think he's something and he is ,watch dennis chambers and vinnie colaiuta and all the rest of them,,,,,really cool!

Mikey...Gregg's performance with Maynard on the live album (be bop buffet ) is one of the finest performances by any drummer, anytime. It is astounding! This performance is still a 6, probably due to a lackluster day for the whole sterile studio band experience. Live music is still best in bringing out the better performances. My experience tells me this too.

Great drummer and clinician too .

Gregg with slingerland, probably the shortest endorsement ever. Almost like Bozzio with Mapex
@Larryamg16 жыл бұрын
I give him a 6. Drummers MUST understand the lead trumpet book. Play with the sections not against them. Buddy was the master. All you have to do is understand what the "Buddy Rich Drive" is all about.

At 5:08 he totally misses the lead trumpet "punches". I change my mind, it's now a 5. You need to "youtube" Sonny Payne and Butch Miles.

Mikey....this video is still a 6. Greg is still a good player. He just didn't make this chart, this time.

Makes you wonder what he was doing wasting his time in David Lee Roth's band.
@gag2man16 жыл бұрын
I'll just say that he's a better jazz drummer than a rock drummer. I don't see what he added to Dave's music that they couldn't get from a rock drummer, especially in the live arena where Dave plays at 900 decibels. How can you appreciate talent when it's drowned out by noise.

Mikey if you are going to make any semblance of a case against Larry's arguments (which I find to be both reasonable and musically sound - no pun intended), you need to actually bring music into your rambling bull shit about "what you have learned over the years." Nobody can contest Gregg's masterful drumming as a whole, but let's be honest, this song doesn't swing as hard as it did in Buddy's band. Part of that is because of the electric stand-up bass...
