You guys all miss the simple point that the Pats should be the Favorite BECAUSE you can name a couple of NFC teams you think are better (Right or wrong). Half of the equation to winning the Super Bowl is GETTING there. If you think that NE is the clear favorite in the AFC and you think there are 2-4+ legit contenders in the NFC then The Patriots are clearly the favorite to win the Super Bowl. I don't know what the actual odds are but just to illustrate the point let's just make up an example. Let's say they give the Pats a 25% chance to win the Super Bowl then the top 4 NFC teams are next (in whatever order you like) as 20%, 18%, 15% and 12%. So they have the Pats as the highest single team but they think that one of the 4 really good NFC teams has a 65% chance of winning it. So they are favoring the NFC big time, they just don't have a good feel for which team it will be.

Nate Solder is the biggest loss by far. When he was banged up vs Denver a few years ago in the AFC Champ game, Brady was getting knocked down. Solder is a stud LT and Brady's only getting older. They need to get him a Pro Bowl type of Offensive Line to protect him.

they've added adrian clayborn, danny shelton, jason mccourty and now jeremy hill. Pretty good free agency haul. They also get edelman back from injury, who is better than amendola and malcolm mitchell who had a good rookie year two years ago. If they fill the let tackle spot, they'll be right back in contention as usual. Malcolm Butler wasn't very good last year, amendola didn't do anything until edelman went down and Belichick has shown he can pull guys off the street to play RB effectively.

It still amazes me that, even with 18 years of evidence, people still can’t understand that the Patriots have had no more than 2 or 3 Centerpiece players on their team. The rest are mainly role players(some are actually good players that also benefit from the schemes and Brady). Why do you think James White, Danny Amendola, Chris Hogan, And other’s have been able to produce with the Patriots but no one else? You know the answer to that question. The Patriots have won 0 Super Bowls(maybe 1 if generous) with more than 3 centerpiece players. This is why the Patriots are the greatest dynasty ever. They are able to sustain greatness with 2-3 centerpiece players for years without having to pay too much money to other great players. This is why the Broncos fizzled. This is why the Jags will fizzle. This is why the Eagles will fizzle. They don’t have the coaching or structure to do what the Patriots have done for 18 years. It’s amazing that Shannon played for years in the NFL yet doesn’t understand this.

Losing Amendola will hurt during the playoffs, because he is a clutch player. Steps up when needed. But people are forgetting that Mitchell will be back. He is not as good but he doesn't have to be when also Edelman is back. Therefore the WR situation in New England will be good enough for Tom Brady. Also TB has had a weak OL for a long time now and losing Solder will hurt, but it won't be a deciding factor. NE needs and will reinforce the defense, that's the key. With Hightower also coming back they will be the favorites once again.

I would say they are the favourite to win because they have so many ways to get there head to Head Eagles probably win 7 out of 10 - That is still a chance for the Pats to win in the WORST CASE SCENARIO If you added up all the ways the Patriots can get there (hypothetically on what we currently know) they have greater odds than any other team Infact the second favourites in the AFC (Steelers) probably have a higher chance than many of those strong NFC teams again its all Hypothetical, come the season and we are all surprised by the Chiefs rolling to 15-1 or something nobody could have possibly seen
