This hits close to home. I had a bad fall in Dec, which really messed up my hip and led to intense sciatica. For the first month, I could barely walk or even feel my legs. It was so bad initially that I felt like a prisoner in my own body. I've had to do daily mobility and flexibility work to regain normal function, walking gate, the ability to balance again, etc.. Hands down the most dehibilitating injury of my life. Especially since I'm 43. After six months, I'm finally back to 90% or so and am mostly pain-free day to day. Also, my strength and ability to lift is almost back to pre fall. But knowing it'll be 8-12 months to 100% because of my age is frustrating as hell. 💯

Inflammation actually can be good for us as it is part of the recovery process after an injury. It’s like a fever. Though unpleasant, the high body temperature helps kill the virus. Taking medicine to lower your fever only helps the virus. Inflammation is your body’s way of telling you that you’ve done damage and need for rest! Anti inflammatory medicine may give you the illusion that you are healed, when in fact, you aren’t. If start working out again, you’ll end up only exacerbating the injury.

This world of narcissists that like to worship their bodies never stop to amazes me. This guy must have millions of dollars. Why does he not retire? Or start a different kind of business where he does not need to sell his body image? I am sure he can afford a good psychologist to help him to make a transition to a new life style. He reminds of Khali Muscle. Someday you will get old and your body will not be the same again. You need to learn how to deal with that. As you get old, you can still have muscles but it will very hard to recover and be able to do the same workouts as you did when you were young. If you had a serious injury, forget it. It will always come back to hunt you.

I see no difference between him drinking alcohol and smoking weed. weed also has negative side effects that people refuse to admit to.... assuming you like how terrible it makes you feel. it's fine if people smoke for medicinal purposes, because they've tried everything else already. but that's usually not the case. in 50 years, I'm sure science and medicine will be at a point where we can finally admit the negative side effects from weed (like making people sick and randomly passing out, yes weed does that).

Rock also has to popularize his brand. Exercising and drinking do not go hand in hand. So if you're a professional (or just care about your health), you don't drink (or just a little). In my country, we have a saying: 1 beer is not beer. 2 beers are half a beer. 3 beers are 1 beer. I roughly interpret this to mean that the drinking habits of a given culture can very easily promote alcohol consumption. If 1 beer goes down, so do 2. Or 3 and keep drinking. You can stop relatively easily at the beginning. But as you drink more and more, it becomes harder and harder to stop. I'm not an anti-alcoholic. But it's much better without alcohol than with it. I think something small is okay on holidays and special occasions. But not every day.
