@@bobthebox2993 Despite the glitches this game has, it's still pretty intricate with what looks to be holes, are actually holes. It'd be pretty weird to be able to walk over broken bits of the bridge or for there to be invisible walls on said bridge.

@@bobthebox2993 Also in the game's defense, Chica is typically the _first_ animatronic to be defeated, so the vast majority of players will be down there in the garbage, falling off the planks well before 6:00 am, while they still have the ability to save their progress. But yeah, there's no real indication of the danger below, beyond the general notion of "here's an elevated path I should tightrope-walk across".

@@jf_kein_k8590 From what I saw while watching Markiplier's game, the event that triggers the rush to the doors is installing Roxy's eyes. As long as you haven't done that yet, you can do collectible runs and get the other animatronics while still being able to save. However I only know this in hindsight and I wouldn't know this on my own blind run in the game.

@@GameHero152 Roxy's eyes are for collectables most time, while security badges are more useful for gaining permeant access to places not related to Monty's path. The other easy fix would be to allow save even after 6 am but for now it'd be less of a problem if a save file was loaded over attempting to get everything during 6 am.

Even if there are walls you wouldn’t know that unless you went straight into them but you wouldn’t do that if you went along the path set out for you. I understand that there were like no other risks in falling before but nothing lined out the same as that path. He didn’t know Freddy Jump scared you either. There is a lot he doesn’t know about the gameplay but you still have to be logical and play it safe or still risk dying.

@@lilacpen8678 usually I'd think the same, but it was a little disappointing that Mat got the 2 Vanny endings w/o the necessary context that would help him (and knowingly did so and didn't seem to realise that there could be stuff he missed by doing so) which could've been avoided w/ chat + usually it's Steph or Mirror-Mat reading the chats/tweets, and they usually filter stuff out for him unless it's like really frustrating and he's really stuck Or maybe it's just the streams that I've watched, I haven't watched every single GTLive/GTnotLive. But tbf, with his schedule, and how much he wants to confirm/build on the FNAF theory, it makes sense that he would prioritise the notLives over lives, since they can do those more frequently.

I am so glad Mat is using the save glitch and I hope he doesn't feel too guilty about it in the future. While I am loving the game so far, its so fundamentally broken. At any moment Mat can accidentally fall through the world, get clipped / stuck on the world graphics, or straight up break the sequence of events and get a ending too soon. Plus there still is the normal risk of getting caught and getting a normal game over. Every time he has to restart / backtrack, it is clearly taking some of the fun out of it on his end. I much rather Mat have a fun time!

Mark: Using the save glitch and being cool about it, because the game was literally tormenting him. Mat: Trying to defend and give reasonable explanations to us for using the save glitch. But seriously. Mat is awesome for using it, as it makes exploring so much easier, thus making theory research/secret finding easier. And don't even get me started on the whole animatronic bossfight to get freddy upgraded. It removes all of the hussle you went through once, so you don't have to do them again. And the game also removes the collectibles you collected, so it can be frustrating without using the glitch. This was a long paragraph about the glitch that makes the game x10 times easier and I'm sorry.

Even if you beat the game, and go back to get another ending, you don't keep the collectibles. I feel like a game with this many collectibles should have there be a 'new game plus' mode, like a rogue-like. If you get an ending, give them a save option, have it track their collectibles, and then let them choose if they want to start again from the choice to leave or stay.

43:15 or so Matt says "has anyone beaten the game without the save glitch?" I did. I used a guide to know exactly what I was doing at the end for Mazersize/Monty fight, but I kinda stumbled into the easiest route on my own: Doing Chica first, then saving Monty for after the no save thing, is the easiest. His boss fight is way easier than Chica's area. Also I used Freddy way more than Matt did, because I found the 2 battery life upgrades for Freddy so it wasn't too bad using him all over the place.

It took me HOURS because I went and found all the gifts which included the 2 freddy upgrades and abused him as much as I could. And since no saving, that meant 1 beautiful run. Its a taxing experience because of how careful you have to be. After I got what I wanted (keeping spoiler free), for the rest of the endings I needed, I said screw it and glitched lol

The problem behind this "can't save" thing is that introduces NOTHING to the gameplay, there's no new mechanic, there's no difficulty, it isn't fun, nor challenging, it's just frustration. You are already playing the game avoiding being caught because you already lose all the progress that you didn't save before.

I think no-save zones or segments can work -- I will never enjoy them lol but that's me personally -- and I think the idea of a no-save segment makes perfect sense for the FNAF franchise. but it felt shoehorned in for all the reasons you stated. hopefully steel wool will learn from the successes and shortcomings of this game and take those lessons into their future games! tbh, I genuinely feel like the storytelling in this game is fantastic. the real story is in the environment and the secrets. it's in all the duffle bag messages that give little hints about the FNAF world and the pizza plex. it just feels like some corporate douchebags in expensive suits pressured the game devs to get the game done faster, so while the story is solid, they didn't have the time to polish the game that the lore is hidden in, if that makes sense.

Big agree. I think there is value in certain long sequences where you can't save- some games are made so you learn more and more BECAUSE you are forced to reload. That's not what's happening here. Instead you're running around a gigantic mall. Most of the time you waste in restarting is just renavigating the map. Even if it just let you save after MAJOR plot points it would be made so much more playable. It is particularly bad with a game that glitches so bad you are forced to restart bc of the game itself and not your own mistakes.

@@sethescope Yeah, no saves are great sometimes, especially in Rogue-Likes. The whole point of those games is that they are different every time, and you advance by getting better. This game is like the opposite of that. The tasks are the exact same each time. In full honesty, most of the challenges in this game aren’t super hard, and there isn’t many ways to improve with each replay. Even the collectibles in most Rogue-likes are saved, which says something about how dumb it is in this game.

Also Matpat hope you see this comment. There’s 2 boxes that are upgrades for Freddy’s battery. Ones right outside the vent to get into Chica’s kitchen area below. It’s on the nearest table near the vent, save file, and flashlight charger. The other one is in a door at the garage farthest from the entrance to Roxy Raceway where you got the glitch head and found the door with the old elevator. These upgrades will really improve Freddies battery really much so you recharge him less!!!

One lore element that needs to be explored more is just the Fazbear Entertainment as a company. They are clearly willing to cover up a lot of stuff and be very lax with safety. It seems that Vanessa likely hacked things to get the recommendation from ‘on high’. With all the automation and replacement of human staff, is it possible that Glitchtrap is actually running the company remotely and it’s so decentralized that no one actually knows who is charge? Or is/was Afton just sort of taking advantage of the amoral business to be able to follow his own agenda. The stuff about basically eliminating all human staff at night, apart from a single security guard seems to point towards Afton pulling the strings to create his own playground. So an interesting theory would be trying to piece together how much was finding opportunities and how much was long term planning.

@@mar30999 Most likely Fazbear entertainment did actually die like it said in the game, but was refounded several years later, most likely backed by some big entrepreneur of some sort. Their first order of business most likely was to market and commercialize the horrors of what came before, profiting massively over these tragic events that caused so much pain to so many. This would have been done by huge merchandise sales, video games, massive advertising campaigns, and maybe even spooky attractions. At the same time, They would have begun opening fast food restaurants to widespread success. Fast forward a couple of decades and Freddy Fazbear's Pizza's is one of the biggest fast food chains in the world, competing with the likes of McDonalds and KFC, allowing them to build the Pizzaplex. This is my opinion of what would have happened and a huge amount of this is speculation.

Watching Mark’s play through, when Chica gets crushed by the compacter, her beak comes off. I immediately thought of Scott’s message on the fnaf world site asking why the tiny toy chica was missing her beak. Even the mission right after you crush her is called “Chica’s Beak”. (I know the point is taking her voice box, but I feel like it’s too pointed to ignore.) Matt has already theorized that Gregory is the crying child/bite victim in fnaf 4. I wonder if this whole game is in Gregory’s head, and what he does to the animatronics is what happened to the toys from fnaf 4. Like maybe the chica toy got put in a trash compacter, the monty toy got dropped in water, the roxy toy got run over? Just a theory 😋

I mean, the schematic for the voice box shows the beak, so the beak is apparently a fixed part of the voice box. But despite that detail being in the game, they missed to chance to give freddy the beak which would only make sense considering the schematics

Fun fact in case anyone didnt know: In Bonny Bowl, once you grab the monty mix, if you go back down to the bowling alley part, around 5 endos will crawl out from behind the pins. :)

Actually every upgrade put some purple on Freddy, Monty's Claws have purple gloves, Chica's Voice Box makes bow tie purple and Roxy's eyes gives purple shade for the vision while riding of Freddy. I would say You are 100% correct :)

33:12 Actually, it was necessary. It's hard to spot, but the compactor was jammed by the pole and shoving Chica inside knocks it down. It could have been storyboarded clearly. Maybe had we seen a close up of the press hitting the pole, then it starts slowing as it's jammed, causing Chica to notice. Then cut to Gregory's view, Chica starts standing up and carefully backing out. That's when Gregory takes action and shoves her at the pole.

If anything, patch the glitch and make saving after six an option. Too much stuff to collect and tasks to accomplish to do it all on one perfect run. One slipup can easily mean gameover. Nobody needs that headache.

I don't know if anyone has commented on this but the clicks and extra effects in this game sound great. The Duffel Bag unzip sounds good, clicking the Freddy button to activate doors it's just satisfying.

The save glitch is definitely intentional. The head disappears after you collect it originally, until 6am where it respawns. Nothing else respawns. It's gotta be intentional

Still boggles my mind that the devs turned off saving in the free roam mode. Like, I could understand if it was super bugged and would like crash the game, but since there's an autosave once you go down the elevator to get the "canon" ending, I feel like there's a workaround

I think the room with all the papers is where Gregory was trying to put together his human memories as a robot. Explains binary, "I can feel," "This is my home," etc., coming to terms with his sentience.
