6:01 - I've never used a union before, but I think that I understand how they work. Based on that, I believe that you could have detached the union halves, then glued the right half in place on the strainer side. You could have separately glued the vertical joint. It would have made re-assembly much easier. Although you were very successful with your double-glue-joint assembly, not everyone would be that lucky.

You should have put a union at the top also... and I’d like to see where you read that primer is not needed. The primer and glue create a chemical reaction which fuses the pvc together.

what about the ground on the back of the pump? did you not ground it?

What I would have done is get 2 union for the suction and discharge side of the pump. When you replace it all you have to do is unscrew the fittings from the pump and thread them into the new pump.

hey there I'm confused can you try to help me understand
@electricalsmokealarmsandmo15642 жыл бұрын
@@neeleyable No problem. The video shows him replacing the pump. In the front he installed a union because if he had to replace it again, he would have a lot of pipe work to do. On the top he added a coupler because he was not worried about redoing the pipes. The part that goes into the pump is threaded so you screw in a fitting and install a union. I would have added a union in place of the coupler so you can unthread the top fitting and the front fitting easily by unscrewing the union, unthreading the fitting in the pump, install those fittings in the new pump, and reconnect the unions.

Which size pipes did you use. I just bought a new pump and I decided to just do it with pipes instead of the hose. I feel it looks better and more durable

Hi, is the water has to be full and no bubble seen when the pump works? My pump works ok (I guess) but the bubble still there... Maybe that's why the pump stop working few hours later? I have to do backwash in order to have the pump working normal again...

Hello. Kind of a dumb question, but I'm new to pools and maintenance. But wanted to ask, can I just replace my pool pump if it is no longer good (it sounds horrible when you turn it on) and keep the 16" sand filter? Or do i have to replace the sand filter as well to accomodate the new pump? Also, what hp should I buy? My pool is an Intex that was bought used and measures 24' x 12'. I believe around 9,000 gallons. I appreciate the help and answers.

Those replacement unions NEVER EVER MATCH. The threads vary by the week. You'll end up having to go shorter & shorter anyways.. So what I reccomend is buying about 3 extra unions of that same one :)

Hello! thank you for the video very easy to follow instructions, thank you. I have the same 1 hp pump. is ok to use a 1/2 hp pump? thank you.

I won’t if your pool came with a 1 hp but mine is a 27 foot round by 52 deep and it suggests a 1 1/2 hp pump for my pool. I hope that helps

1) It's called cement welding, not soldering. Soldering is for electronics...SMH.. 2) Primer is code. If you read the entire test article I believe you are referring to, the pressure testing was done at ~15 minutes after primer/cement was applied. The cure rate is actually 24 hours. Follow the directions and use the product correctly and you will have no joint failure and your work will be up to plumbing code. 3) This electric cord hack job is not code either. Replace the short power cord with the correct length outdoor rated L5-20 twist lock cord. Indoor air conditioning cords are not outdoor rated nor do they lock in place. I don't care how you think your extension is water or weather proof. It is not safe and could cause electrical shock. All in all, the overall process is correct, so props for that. But there is performing this job to US code correctly and safely and there is just plain ole hack jobs looking for clicks. Congrats, you got my click. But no subscribe for you.

I don't understand how it is a pool pump but has no filter. So basically if you don't order the entire 2 systems, one is a pump that just moves the water around. Then also you have to ground it. By an electrician. And then have to install a filter machine too. Do not like this brand at all. Video was good. Pump should not be what it is called as it just moves the water.
