How To: Replace An Above Ground Pool Pump Motor

This video saved me $170... I bought the same motor, but it came with no cord so I used the old Hayward cord I had.. As for bearing seals.. Hayward had the black side installed facing out, so I replaced as the factory had... BIG MISTAKE!!! It would not work!!! I ended up taking apart the pump, and as in this video re-installed with the white side facing out on the bearing seal... I also coated it with Jack's lube.. Works well.. Thanks guys!

Great Video guys! The motor has a shaft seal on it that you didn't mention. It's right at the base of the shaft up against the motor housing.

Note: if you are having trouble taking off the impeller on the Hayward power-flo matrix pump go buy yourself a pair of 4" to 4 1/2 inch wide channel lock pliers to hold the impeller as you turn the shaft with a screw driver. I could not turn the impeller without these pliers. so try to turn it by hand but if you can not use these.

I have this same pump and good luck trying to take off the impeller. I can’t get mine off tried everything to the point of stripping out the back scree

Man thanks for the video. I am struggling to find my motor it’s a US motors brand this one is the closest that I have seen. Trying to wire it up.
