Appreciate your video and you sharing your perspective on diet and diet culture. I'm a Registered Dietitian and Exercise Physiologist and completely agree with everything you've said. I also am a big fan of much of what Dr. Robert Lustig has said although have been frustrated by some of his messaging, in particular some comments he's made about RDs. In any case, appreciate your responsible and well articulated recommendations around diets. I take a very similar approach when teaching people about nutrition. I try to not recommend specific diets or demonize any diet. Instead I try to highlight the common elements between the most recommended diets that are supported by science. That way people can understand what makes a diet healthy and better eat according to their own life and preferences. Cheers!

This was excellent. I recently "crossed the threshold" from pre-diabetes to diabetes (got fat, my fault) and this was informative. I've been lifting for many years now but not as hard as I should, so changing that. I work in the field of elder law and have seen firsthand how muscle wasting severely decreases quality of life in the elderly. I applaud your efforts to make "grandma should lift weights" a mainstream concept. I don't agree with Rip on everything (I've made some harsh comments about his views on Olympic weightlifting) but your book has been necessary for some time now.

I can verify another commenter mentioning the “stream is no longer available” issue with this video. Hopefully Dr JS can bring it back.

Refresh my memory....what "stream?"

KZbin is not allowing the video to be played. It comes up with a “No stream” error message when you try to watch it.

How about not eating carbohydrates

How about not demonizing an entire macronutrient just because most people don't know how to eat?

Have you observed that some trainees lose any strength after starting metformin? Thanks

Nope. And the recent paper that got a lot of people riled up on this issue, by Walton et al, was analyzed (and pretty much deconstructed) in our latest research review: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZXGk3R5mpeJbs0

Sure. Just cut carbs and all this nonsense goes away.
