Gridlessness

Күн бұрын

We did it! We bought a small (5 acres) piece of wilderness property..... on an island!
What would you do with it?
We've never actually seen it, so today we're snowshoeing in to it for the first time.
Check out the cool things the girls have been making on our website:
www.gridlessne...
and on IG: / gridlessness
Would you ever buy a remote wilderness property? Do you think we're crazy or brilliant? Let us know, leave a comment, subscribe and join the adventure.

The possibilities are endless!! First a trail system. Then, a log cabin for hunting/getaways. Turn all the beetle kill into firewood. Seed a food plot in a clearing to attract elk. Make a small launch pad for Kez's drone operations. Invite special guests. Have your guests run around and kill all of the mosquitoes. Live happily ever after.

I bought 8 acres 3 yrs ago. I cut firewood and grow crops on it. I also put up some small buildings to hang out in and hunt. So if I were you, I would build a cabin to stay in and a nice clearing near the river for fishing and camping. Dont forget the all important, outhouse. That is normally the first item built. Good luck with it and enjoy it.

I'm only just starting my KZbin journey with my 3.3 acres of land and I can't believe what a mad man you are for getting more land and in a more remote area! Hats off to you. In terms of what to do I highly suggest at least attempting a tree house considering that area probably every so often at least gets some inland floods and you have quality trees there.

I love it. I would take that Island and make a cable bridge high enough to escape the floods and make it a little more accessible . Maybe wide enough to take the 4 wheelers across.Or just a really sweet cable pulley ride to pull yourself across. And if you want to adopt a Uncle Ed I would love to go on a Adventure Island trip.
@tombulger
@tombulger 3 жыл бұрын
I was going to suggest the same thing but then I realized that that is a bad idea. If they put a bridge or something in the they would have more people coming on to their land doing what ever they want to do and not caring that it belongs to someone else. No bridge keeps it remote for sure. Just my thought on this. But have to say that it is going to be really interesting to see what they do with the land on Adventure Island. :-)

Build TeePee (Tipi). You have everything you need on the Island but the rope and Canvass. 10 X 20 painters tarp is under $100. Carry your home out in your backpack. So much fun painting and constructing too. Talk about a learning experience for a family.

Mine is kind of a two parter. Build a pond that is fed by the river so you have a source for big ice blocks in the spring. Also build an ice house for those ice blocks in sawdust so you can keep food and beer in it Eh 😉 not to mention a good locker for fish and other meat you may acquire. I thought for sure that you would do the ice block thing with your skating rink this year. Zero electricity. Love your videos. And especially love Jeff and Rose calling to each other at the end there.

Build a “Swiss Family Robinson” tree house, improving and adding on to it a little every year ! On the other side of the coin tho is people could homestead on it or cause damage, theft or even fire, so if it’s not close enough to check on frequently plan accordingly. Happy for your family and I know your whole family will make something great out of it.👍

I am jealous, do you need a neighbour (I can shoot straight)? Have to build a cabin with a stone foundation that will last for an eternity so that future generations can find it and create stories about the forefathers that lived there in frontier times. It is a good thing you know someone with a dog sled that can haul stuff out for you when the ground is covered in snow. This is still my dream, and I am old. Enjoy it and thanks for sharing.

WOW!! I'M SO OOOOooooo HAPPY! FOR YOU GUYS. YOU ALL DESERVE IT FOR YOUR HARD WORK, SACRIFICES AND DEVOTION TO CLEAN LIVING. I would turn that island into a FANTASY-CAMP! #1.- HAND BUILD A STONE HUNTING CABIN/HOUSE, WITH FIREPLACE, CHIMNEY, AND CEDAR-SHAKE OR SLATE ROOF (Im a u.s. air force veteran , and semi retired career roofer and stone mason....hint- hint.... think you could use my help w that... 🤔.?!) #2. Create the most AWESOME ZIP-LINE COURSE! - spanning the outer edges of the property- with epic views of both (sides of) rivers! Could use several larger block and tackle systems (pulleys)with a standing platform n safety railing, and mechanical gears as an ever constantly-reliable, manual elevator (at the ground base, of each top Zipline run start location). IMAGINE how sick! That course would be, taking off from the tops of some of those giant behemoths! 3. RIVER RAFTING BASE AND PERMANENT STRUCTURAL BOATING DOCK AND CANOE RAMPS A MUST! JUST THE BASICS TO START WITH, BUT I COULD GO ON AND ON .....!! PLEASE CONSIDER 🎇❣️🎉 CREATING A CONTEST OR RANDOM, OR EVEN (SECRETLY) CHOSEN RAFFLE PRIZE, FOR AN "ISLAND ADVENTURE" ,🌲🌊 (love it, Rose!) TRIP FOR 1 For 2 of US and a guest,, (pick me please!) or even 2 COUPLES,.--. So someone SUPER LUCKY!! WOULD GET A 30-DAY CHANCE OF A LIFETIME, SUMMERTIME (("FANTASY ISLAND EXPERIENCE ")) IN BEAUTIFUL B.C. GETTING TO MEET YOU AND YOUR WONDERFUL FAMILY, AND GETTING TO EXPERIENCE FOR JUST A FEW WEEKS, WHAT YOU GUYS GET TO ENJOY AS "EVERYDAY LIFE"!! AND TO GET THE CHANCE TO CREATE SOME "AWESOME ADVENTURE" MEMORIES WITH YOU ALL, TO BRING BACK HOME WITH US AND TO KEEP SACRED FOR A LIFETIME.... PALLEESE???? HUNTING, FISHING, CAMPING, PROSPECTING, EXPLORING, PHOTOGRAPHING WILDLIFE AND NATURE, --- WHAT COULD BE BETTER THAN THAT??❣️ YOU ALL-Timothy 🌲🏊🚴🌹🧗👣🌲

If it were me and I already had a gridless home, Adventure Island would be just that... Adventure Island! First, a cabin(s) with maybe stilts or far enough back for the 200yr flood then a tree stand for meats, and let the adventures begin! Fish camp, hunting camp, gold camp, forage camp, "just because" camp, the kids could have trapping camp the adults could have some kid-less camp time! OH! Maybe a guided tour type thing or bring people there to experience gridless camp! I loved the moose calling! That was awesome! Jeff, Rose, you're too precious! Dave, you and your family are great! Someday I wanna be like y'all! Let us know what you decide and bring us along on the growth of Adventure Island! Please?! Thank you, as always to include us!

Well, that was a fun video! I know in an instant what I would do with such a piece of paradise. I would build a traditional trapper-hunter-fisher log cabin using only the materials available on site, and there appears to be plenty. It would also make a great fall back position should your current site become over-run with wanna-be you-tube addicts, wanting a piece of your life-style! Not me of course, but, you know, just sayin! And without question I would be all over that river with my #4 fly rod in the spring and summer!
