I was a die hard wwf guy and diesel so this was the first Monday I went out with full intention of not even turning to raw. I was going to give wcw a full year. My three was nash , Bret, and Steiner. I was annoyed with all the bullshit but I tried to stick it out . When the fpod happened I never hated a character as much as Nash. When he later got destroyed by hhh, it was a sweet revenge for me as a fan. It was wwfs 99 nail in the coffin with wcw champion to start 99 getting beat by wwf champion to end 99

2:06:21 Here we start to hear JR's true opinion. Ultimately he doesn't hate the angle. He does't think it's the worst thing ever. He understands the logic behind it, it just overran it's stay. I agree JR. Even if JR doesn't like not delivering on Nash/Goldberg, he appreciates the heel heat attained by the NWO reformation. It is textbook old school tactics. So many times you hear that wrestling fans think they have to feel that the FPOD is the absolute worst thing ever always. Thanks JR, for not feeling you have to conform.
There’s a rapper outta the Bay Area named J RZ who has a line that says, “your rhyming skills are weak like the Luchador El Dandy.” Every time anyone says El Dandy I just laugh my ass off and this instance was no different 😂.

The thing is the moment itself got heat, people were throwing shit in the ring, & anger draws money, the problem is this was supposed to set up a new stable of heels Golberg could run through & a Hogan Golberg rematch with him getting the title back. But neither of those things happened & Hogan was a babyface again in just a few months lol.

I agree with that one fan who told him on Facebook how could he like working for AEW a second rate promotion well 10 years ago back he did a press conference for WWE 2K 14 and he was high and drunk and was trash talking their sponsors, he embarrassed himself badly that day, after that the WWE had no choice, but to fire him because him and Ric Flair where acting like complete idiots Jim Ross should’ve known better not to get wasted drunk that day, yet He’s not even mature enough to take responsibility for his stupidness. I don’t blame the WWE for firing him. He embarrassed himself and the company day and trust me I’m not defending the WWE. They are a shady company, but they were in the right when they fired Jim Ross.

I agree with that one fan on Facebook who roasted JR about working for AEW… Jim Ross had a legendary career as a WWE announcer on Monday night raw and he threw it all down the toilet because he showed up at the WWE 2K 14 event high and drunk off his ass and he started talking shit about the sponsors that proves how irresponsible Jim Ross actually is as a full grown adult man… I feel no sympathy for him because he should’ve not showed up at a big company event promoting their product while high and drunk, talking very stupidly. He did it for himself… even though I’m a fan of these podcasts I lost respect for Jim Ross as a human being for being a pot smoking drunk, you literally fucked your career now you’re working for a second rate wrestling promotion good job good old JR!!!

looking back, it had more to do with WWF's content being better I think like most wrestling fans, we were changing the channel constantly between WCW and WWF, and over time I found myself changing the channel less and less to WCW. WCW had one really interesting angle to me, at this time and that was NWO vs NWO Wolfpack. WolfPack was so popular at the time, I think Nash beating Hogan and ending the NWO B&W wouldve been a great direction to purse.

I understand AEW is just starting out and that it's more of a TV vehicle than a wrestling promotion run by people who are not really qualified to plot pro-wrestling angles out... but in April of 2021, though I know he's cultivating a mild heel persona in these podcasts for the clicks, it is highly ironic to hear JR criticize the product he's seeing (ex: Guerrero v. Smiley postmatch) on WCW and the whole 50/50 booking and post-match baloney that happens. Ross's criticism is correct, but after 2 yrs of what AEW has been putting out there, the irony is simply too rich not to comment. To each their own, and for people who like AEW, I get it, you're not wrong, I understand the draw and I think it can get better (it can't get worse). But around the time Bret Hart left the WWF for WCW, the WCW product was bad and just got worse. By this point in 1999 I had stopped watching. Yet 1999 WCW was still a superior product compared to anything AEW (and WWE for that matter) presents us with today. Hogan, Nash, Hall, Steiner, Luger... not the greatest "in-ring workers," especially in those days (though early Steiner was as good as anyone), but in their prime, those guys in the ring at the end, they were all salty bad asses who had been seasoned in the territories (except for Nash I think) and had a crusty luster nobody has anymore regardless of the angle they were in; those were wrestling stars. Goldberg certainly came around in the post-territory days, but he was still a star and a bad ass who was as over as anyone. I miss 20th-century wrestling now more than ever.

Why do I care what the referee's name is?
@Dj.MODÆO4 жыл бұрын
The same reason sports fans care what coaches names are, and movie fans care what a directors name is......wrestling referees aren’t actually “referees” they are actually directing the match using code words, body language cues and hand signals. It doesn’t look like that’s what they’re doing...but that’s part of their art and skill. Also, if someone actually gets hurt the referee is the only one trained to know the difference between a “sell” and an actual injury and calls an audible to change up the match on the fly without anyone else knowing the difference. You can’t have a great wrestling match without a great referee directing it. That’s one of the main reasons why pro wrestling doesn’t use multiple different referees and usually only has a few. The fact that most people don’t realize this, is a testament to how good they are at their job.

Sometimes I feel like i'm one of the only people who at least understands what they were TRYING to do with the finger poke. I mean i'm not defending it as a GREAT idea or anything, but at least I see where they were going with it. Honestly sometimes I think the only reason people shit on that THIS hard is because they're up-their-own-ass wrestling traditionalists who are a little TOO offended by it. ...like, it was just a thing meant to show in shocking fashion that Nash and Hogan were colluding. I can see how they at least THOUGHT it was supposed to be a "surprising twist". Yeah, in the long-run it was stupid and short sighted as an angle, but to treat it like "OH NO IT MADE WRESTLING LOOK FAKE THE BUSINESS IS RUINED KAYFABE IS DEAD" are just being goddamn idiots. It wasn't THAT big of a deal, or some blight on the face of professional wrestling, it was just an ill-thought out idea that didn't pan out how they probably thought it sounded on paper.
