Cactus Jack vs Triple H at the 2000 Royal Rumble is one of my top 10 favorite matches of all time.
@TheTruth-pl3mk3 жыл бұрын
My stepson is indifferent to pro wrestling, despite my best efforts. But 2 of his 3 favourite matches feature Mick Foley and one of those is the 2000 RR street fight. Before I showed him that one (and the 1998 KotR HIAC), he was into Rey Mysterio Jr and those kind of high-flyers. But Foley changed that.

First tables match Hardy Boyz vs Dudley Boyz... One of the best matches of all time. It was just brutal and the crowd ate this up

Foley stole the show at 3 Royal Rumbles in a row. 1998 he took part in the Rumble match as all 3 of this persona's! including a segment where him (as cactus jack) had a hardcore match with Terry Funk in the middle of the Rumble match! In 1999, the infamous "I quit" match with the Rock and then in 2000 with that epic match with HHH

that street fight was awesome. even better in hindsight realizing how legit HHH's injury was. I always felt bad, and I know JR feels a loser still wins, that Mick was often in these Main event matches and layed it all out only to end up losing....but i know he ultimately won from a larger perspective.

The comment about the extra footage of HHH being stitched up backstage after the street fight on the DVD is true. I own the DVD, bought it when it came out in 2000. He was stabbed in his calf by a chunk of wood that broke off when he was suplexed onto a pallet.

They recently did a 30min show on the wwe network about this match. Could be the same thing as the dvd but it was worth a watch.

Jim Ross called it "bad management" and thats putting it nicely, WWE has the midas touch to the degree of Micheal Jordan, when it comes to not staying in their own lane and trying new endeavors, everything they touch turns to crap because of "bad management". Jim Ross would be a genius on a PR team

I always like JR'S laid back style when he reads commercials... As a Sales Manager myself, I WISH I could say the " puple mattresses are selling by the DOZENS and then change it to by the HUNDREDS mid copy😆...it seems like a small thing, however, if you didn't have the celebrity of a JR, you would get an earful.

You can pretty much pick any random wwe ppv from 2000 and you'll get a classic. Except for wrestlemania ironically which was probably the worst ppv show they put on that year.

Mae Young was the comedy of that royal rumble 2000 swimsuit contest. Looking back i understand Vince's idea for wanting to add a little comedy segment, but I don't know what he was thinking adding Mae Young in that. Terri Poch aka Tori in my opinion should have taken Maes spot. And then let Mae young still come out and try to spoil the whole thing that would have been funny.

I rewatched the Holly Chyna Jericho fight, and at no point does Jericho look confused before giving Chyna the bulldog. As a matter of fact he begins to do the move the millisecond he stands up. When would Holly have had the time to say “bulldog dumbass!”

WWE doesn't want other talent to get over like austin and rock because they don't want anyone to be bigger then the company stupid I know think about it its been 21 yrs since austin and rock and the business hasn't been hot since I mean you can say cena but cena became a prop for the company once he won the WWE championship the 1st time!
@stevepmg92023 жыл бұрын
They want multiple talents to be on the same level so they aren't dependent on one guy like they were with Hogan then Austin then Rocky when Austin got injured. Thats why they worked so hard in the first era of 2 world titles to get Cena, Batista and eventually Orton to the same level at the same time with strong guys underneath like Shawn, Kurt and Taker so they wouldnt be too dependent on one guy to draw houses but "the brand" of WWE to sell the tickets, and it kind of makes sense. But lets be honest the reason the business hasnt caught fire again is because nobody has widespread mainstream and crossover appeal. Hogan was a massive charismatic star, they lost traction when he left. Steve Austin drew people back because (1) he was on mainstream news with Tyson then people hung around to watch him beating up his boss which was novel and (2) some of the Hulkamania kids who were now teenagers came back because the product had grown up to suit their interests. Ever since Mania 17 the product stagnated, they lost a lot of old fans, and I imagine the Cena appeal (kids) hasnt reached the numbers they wanted. But they currently make more profit overall than they ever have thanks to merch, licensing, Fox Sports and Saudi blood money, so I doubt they care about our complaints about the creative.

Brandon Goldy It was an accident. Rock was supposed to win clean, but they messed up the ending and used it in storyline. I would’ve just ignored the flub and not mentioned it. Nobody wanted Big Show in that main event

Rocky Johnson was African-Canadian. What? We're about facts, it's true. Look it up. Also, Jim Ross just described racial overtone stuff with no details. "Rock had to hear all that shit his dad had to go through at the dinner table, so he wasn't about to take that bullshit and left." ....???....ok, no context at all, other than something was said in Opie and Anthony...well...what happened?? You just said it probably wasn't that big of a deal, but you admire the Rock for not dealing with it and taking off. See....I HATE the yeah/nah/yeah/nah, no details given, we're going to expect you folks know what took place. C'mon. A Flip flopping over no details given combo platter is the WORSE. They should have just edited that one chunk out entirely. Other than that, great podcast.😉👍 lol (I know, sounds fucked up, but it's true...I can gripe but still like something overall,so 😋)
