This creative debut of Kane is one of the best debuts/storylines ever. Top 5 of the past 40 years for sure.

I feel like the HIAC match itself is often overlooked due to the Taker/Mankind match in 98 and Kane's debut. The first one isn't as gut-wrenching or jaw-dropping as the second for obvious reasons, but it's a better match for me (insofar as we judge it strictly as a match). Shawn bumped around like a maniac and Taker played his part to perfection, from the dominant brawling to his look of utter disbelief when Kane arrived. Rewatching it, I can't help but marvel at how damn good HBK was in the ring.
@stevepmg92022 жыл бұрын
100% the first is more worth the rewatch, its a great match bell to bell. The second is a mess between bumps and finish because both guys are hurt. The big bump in Taker/Shawn for me was "Jesus, I cant believe that fall" whereas when Mankind came off the top, I was in shock, like it was surreal. It was the only time in 30 years as a wrestling fan that I wasnt sure if what my eyes were showing me was actually what had happened.

The reason why mick felt like he had to go to those lengths is because of how great the first hell in cell was. So that in itself speaks volumes to how influential it was for mick

Kane's debut is my favorite ever!!! I could listen to JR, Bruce, Corny, all talk about this PPV for hours. The Hell in a Cell match was great, showing Shawn was no doubt the greatest wrestler in that era, in-my-opinion ever, and Kane's debut was simply amazing. The original Kane in the mold of Michael Myers was awesome!

The best Hell in a cell match ever and Im not an Hbk fan. No hell in a cell match comes close. Bret Hart, Randy Savage, Curt Hennig, Undertaker , Ric Flair, Rick Steamboat are the greatest wrestlers ever imo.

Being that Conrad is a big dude himself, its funny to hear him gasp at Yoko dipping his fried turkey tails in mayo
@thickerconstrictor9037 Жыл бұрын
Yeah Conrad will be lucky to last 5 more years. I don't like him in these shows personally he comes off as a really obnoxious smart mark that should be in the stands, and has no business in professional wrestling other than that. These guys only like him because these shows make them money and he makes them money. He's basically a money Mark. And you were going to say well why do you listen then, it's because of the other people. I sit through his awful mouth-breathing voice because I want to listen to the stories from the other guys. I love the shows when he's not there. That being said just because I don't care for him in this position doesn't mean I wish I'll health or anything on him. He's got a wife, family, friends, and I hope he gets healthy and I'd never wish anything but the best for his life. Just not him as the host of these shows hahaha
@johnjandoh67322 ай бұрын
@@thickerconstrictor9037Exactly. If Conrad were doing these alone and just jacking off to dave meltzer and the observer, and doing a podcast without these guys close to Vince, I would never have watched another video after the first one I clicked on STW. Basically it's actually Bruce and JR and Eric that make Conrad money.
@keepitwolfson Жыл бұрын
Meltzer gave the match 5 stars??? But it's wwe?! You mean Bruce lies? Wild
@johnjandoh67322 ай бұрын
How exactly does this have anything to do with Bruce? And why do you have to jack off to meltzer? Bruce's point was never that dm cannot give a wwf match 5 stars. That's your pathetic interpretation. And this show was done on STW long before JR. I know Conrad read the same trash from the observer to Bruce in that episode. And when Bruce doesn't know something he says he does not recall or remember. And people gave him a hard time for that. So how is he a liar again? Or because he loathes your wrestling god and lord, dave meltzer, he must be liar. Get sense idiot.

@xziggy_stardustx67863 жыл бұрын
Lol. JR rarely stirs the pot. He always tries to be balanced and wherever possible he avoids dissing people. It does make sense: he knows these people in real life and considers many of them friends. He''s honest, but he generally doesn't badmouth anybody. Where it's unavoidable, like HBK's 90s antics, he speaks in euphemisms ("had his demons") and doesn't dwell on the subject.

The WWE is not original. The hell in the cell was a copycat of fall, brawl, wargames in WCW
@johnjandoh67322 ай бұрын
You sure about that? So WCW had already built the exact structure that wwf had, and Vince just stole it from them right? Or maybe all wrestling companies have their own style of cages. Nobody in wrestling can "copy" a steel cage.
