This is fantastic. I love the addition of the rough cloth with the cheesecloth and the additional meat hooks. Absolutely fantastic. Did you just layer the cheesecloth and apply it with modge podge? Or is it just one layer?
@BlackChaliceStudio21 күн бұрын
Thank you! For the cheese cloth I cut it to the rough shape then dunked it in a mix of pva, water and texture paste before applying it to the mini. Once cured it’s stuck fast and solid!

Looks amazing! The only thing I'd have done differently was to choose a different color for the fur cape--a brown of some kind, maybe--because I felt the cape kind of blended in with the rest of the mini and didn't offer enough contrast. But this looks like a proper grotty vampire lord regardless and great work on your part!

I think you did an awesome job there, and I love the feeling of this miniature in the grim dark style. The only thing that bothers me is the variation of materials on the backside. It all looks all too greenish, but overall a great tutorial and have to thank you for that . On further notice I would love to see the model on bright daylight in order to see the textures, the oil paints create.
@BlackChaliceStudio21 күн бұрын
Thank you! I agree some variation could have been added but I wanted the fur and shawl to be fairly low key and not stand out too much!

Amazing video, amazing result on an amazing miniature :) Something I wonder about: you use cotton swabs a lot. When I use them, I find I get a lot of stray fibers on the mini (including finding them when I think the paint job is done!). I do try to tweeze them off but I’m wondering if you have this problem too and if you just pick them off or have any other tips.
@BlackChaliceStudioАй бұрын
Thank you! My go to method for removing stray fibres is a brush very slightly dampened with spirits. It takes quite a while to get them all!

Everything is almost perfect, my only concern is the fur on the top of the cape. Surely even a slight drybrush before you matt is back down would give it more texture? The only concern I see with multiple washes over it is that it comes out a bit 'flat' compared to the rest of the model, especially the skin, which absolutely pops
@BlackChaliceStudioАй бұрын
Thank you! I decided to keep the fur pretty low key as it’s a large expanse and I didn’t want it to overpower other areas!

@BlackChaliceStudio thanks you. I appreciate it!! fur and horns are hard to do for slap shops in unnatural colors. Example khorne red for beastman or Tzeentch blue for tzaangors. My question is how to make unnatural colors look more natural on fur and horns? 🤔 I'm probably missing color theory bc khorne should be red skin with black or brown fur, but I'm not sure and still Undecided. Again, thank you for taking your time out of the day to respond!
