GRRR!!!!I just pounded out an explanation describing how my first and most thoughtful reply was lost to the either, and that comment was lost again! Ok. I better keep it short: Bike computer: good idea if the science works at high speeds and wheel spin. Forces are much greater than bicycle tires. Autometer had a calibrated column mounted speedo years ago. I explained it in detail, then my post was lost. Putting it out there in brevity 'cause I might crash any second. More time? Ok. AutoMeter's system was a standard gauge where you would log a known mile.press a button at the start, again at the end. A mag pickup on the driveshaft. I need to put my new computer together... this is getting annoying.

I use a bicycle computer for current and max speed plus distance traveled. It uses a magnet attached to a wheel with a stationary sensor to measure each revolution instead of GPS tracker. You could also setup a speed trap on the the fastest part of the track with two invisible beam sensors 30 feet apart into a timing system like a drag strip.

Run a long cable from a tree on each end, hang a gopro from a zipline and have someone waiting until the driver comes around the bend and send the camera and you'll get a really awesome cinematic swooping chase cam shot that will almost look like a chopper. I think they actually make zipline camera rigs if I'm not mistaken! Either way, you guys have amazing shots and great editing and stuff. There is an electronic bicycle speedometer that a friend uses on all of his motorcycles. Reliable up to well over 100 mph. Looking through the comments I don't see mention of it, however you can buy little 10Hz GPS pucks meant for road-course tracks. These are bluetooth and will just connect to your phone. Most phones have a 1Hz module which is often way too slow for track use as you've seen. From there you can use an app like Harry's GPS Laptime to record the runs. I think it has an option to "build" the track layout too.

Genius. I love this concept. I am going to have to steel that from you guys. I am planning to build a buggy that will run with a Honda Civic drive train but I need to build something smaller for the kiddos and that axle set up is perfect.

you can install a Trail Tech speedometer. then put a magnet on the front rim (inside area). then mount the pickup sensor. You can set the tire size to fine tune it. They have several versions, vapor, striker, voyager. You can use it to monitor RPM, voltage, water temp. I mounted one on my 1989 Honda Pilot. works great.

oh, the pilot has a 617cc rotax snow mobile engine in it. but doesn't run as fast as yours.

You should make the exhaust more muffled, not just for general noise control, but it's also better for the driver. Even the dog at 26:01 was like "That's enough, sir".

What's awesome on a buggy like this is having individual pedals or levers for the front brakes so you can brake the inside wheel.

Trail tech offers speedometers that use a magnet pick up attached wherever you want that’s really good you can calibrate the computer for you wheel size based on the distance of the pickup from your axel center

Me and my brother are both speedfreaks and we both own smartcars (thats a comical sentence) and were both looking at the prices for the hayabusa engine swap kits just for giggles (my brother is an extremely good mechanic so idk he may have been more serious than me) but w you bringing your own god knows how much $$ busa motor to the party, just the hardware/installation kit was like $12 - 15,000..but it comes with i wanna say Porsche 996 CV axles..so yall might wanna investigate into that further💪

I used the gearbox from a 79 Skidoo Elite. That one uses a tripple strand metric chain. They made some other ones, with a more common two strand chain.

First, I got my stickers thanks they are awesome. My 2 boys already claimed them. Second, I am worried about your legs. That things fast and you got some big trees. Third, pitch radar gun. Under $100 goes up to 100mph, they mount to a stand. Big Mike

Think about getting a Hanz Devise (neck brace). Since you’re belted, if you hit a tree, it can snap your neck and completely wreck your life or worse. That thing looks like a good time!
