As a BB archer, I find this impressive and possibly the most important video you've posted. You focus on the psycho- trigger effect of the clicker and substitute it with the grip shear, and completely ignore it's other function, that of a draw check. I think that draw length variation is the bane of BB archers and even a few mm difference as fatigue and nerves take their toll would make a huge difference on the target at 70m. Apparently I was mistaken, most of us are simply not good enough. Now you need to do this again without sight and satbilizers to show what can be achieved.
@SheldonGoh3 жыл бұрын
That's incredibly consistent shooting considering you're not using the clicker. Seriously impressive. Just goes to show how dialed in your form and technique are. Love these "standing on the shooting line with you" type videos. Keep em coming! And that new red/pink grip looks AWESOME on the gray riser!

Dear Jake, I have been struggling with target panic for years now. 2 weeks ago, I saw your video on the grip sear for your barebow and I read Joel Turner’s book about Target Panic and implemented this on my recurve. This has literally transformed my shooting! My target panic is completely gone now and I not only shoot higher scores, but shooting feels so much more fun and controlled! Thank you a lot! It’s really encouraging to see your enthousiasm about it too.

I think... that realisation in your eyes at the end says "Ooh, I could actually be really good at this"! and I don't think you'll find any argument from us lot : ) Great shooting given the variables.

Would love if you'd make a video about target panic, how and if possible to beat it and your experience with it!
@archerry64573 жыл бұрын
Best way to beat it is to stop talking about it, stop thinking about it, stop saying it... And it disappears. Don't acknowledge it. You beat your subconscious in other parts of archery, so beat it here too. Give it a try.
@BlackHawkPGA3 жыл бұрын
@@archerry6457 I 100% agree. Already did, and it does work to some extent. Clicker helped me with my olympic recurve, but I recently got a longbow and putting that arrow top on the center is a nightmare. I like the grip sear idea (although I’d have to find a different action on a longbow) but I can’t help to wonder if adapting to target panic in different ways is a real solution to it…
@archerry64573 жыл бұрын
@@BlackHawkPGA hmm, tricky isn't it? Have you tried shooting clout? I've found it removes all that toxic mental stress about the target... You've then got a surplus of mental focus with only one place to be, and that's way back at the shooting line. Certainly sorted the issue, that I no longer talk about, for me. 😉 Let other people worry about it. Find a coach who doesn't entertain it and learn to trust your subconscious. Working on your shot timing is massive too; helps to not anticipate/become anxious about the clicker. (Just my tuppen'orth)

Nice work mate. I tried using a clicker few times now and every time I get rid of it. I shoot much better and more consistent without a clicker. I am new to archery but came to the same conclusion, if I do all the parts of the shot As I should the scores are pretty good. I try to think less and feel more. I hope that makes sense.

Fantastic! Stupid question: right before release there seems to be a small tremor in your right elbow? Is that a symptom of high draw weight, the grip sear, or just normal mechanics in action, or...?

Thank you Jake that was just the video I didn`t realise I was looking for . I`ve been shooting with a clikker for jonks . two years ago I started also shooting trad , and I find that I enjoy archery more shooting without a clikker . I feel my back more , and it`s like I`m more in control of the line-up ,, Hmm ? ( When I shoot Trad the shot falls subconciously , and I dont experience taget panic )

Hi jake , in my shooting I struggle a bit at expansion , I struggle to keep my aim in the middle and expand . What do you do during aiming and expansion. How do you keep your aim stable and expand smoothly ? What do you focus on ?

I knew the grip sear would prove out for you in this video. I was watching your blank baling the other day and your arrow tip did not move once you hit transfer. I thought you would creep once you began pulling through the grip sear, but nope. No creep and maybe a tiny rearward movement while you continued to expand until conclusion. Nicely done JK.

Hi Jake, I am having a discussion with a friend, and need to resolve this. What pound limbs are you using and what is your draw length?
@JakeKaminskiArchery3 жыл бұрын
42# long limbs, draw length is roughly 29.75” or so. Roughly 46# at full draw.
@andreasvonimhof79243 жыл бұрын
Wow! Such a quick response. Thank you! I win the discussion with my friend :-). He is convinced that recurve shooters shoot 70lb bows. Reason that I was asking is that he has just filed a patent application for a new target featuring 100% organic material and 2 finger arrow pull for compound bows. I am trying to persuade him to make a lighter version for recurve.

I think there’ll be some confusion between the clicker and grip sear and because you are actually making a movement with the grip sear I’m expecting scores to be lower. We’ll see.

My prediction is you made a million shots with real clicker so you intuitively know when its ghost is about to go off with or without grip sear///still think it will be worse then witn tne real one especially if you shoot long enough esp under stress///well, I gather you can show great results even with crooked arrows
