I don't like making comments like this because I get that things get missed and it ultimately doesn't super matter, but I've seen this mistake in two episodes now. Throne of the Dead Three at the end of the Undercity doesn't put the other nine cards on the bottom of your library, it shuffles them into your deck.

The problem I have is that it probably does matter when everyone at the table is a judge.
@domotoroOfficial3 ай бұрын
@@ramohnfisher3654 do you really think judges’ brains are supercomputers that know all of magic perfectly? cut them some slack, they’re human. also: this is pretty clearly not a “rules understanding” issue but rather a “misremembering the effect of the mechanic” issue.
@trevorstammler3 ай бұрын
@@domotoroOfficial yeah it’s 100% this. I’m a rules advisor myself and even with my memory of how cards work there have been several times where I realize several things that put cards back in your library don’t say ‘bottom in a random order’ but just say shuffle instead. It’s on so few cards & effects that it’s really easy to miss because nobody expects it

Video idea: Nelson and Surge explain the rules of magic. Not just set mechanics, but the basics and more advanced interactions that often get confused or lost in the sauce during gameplay. Nelson explaining the Titania trigger doubling event not working was great. I've been in a lot of games where this sort of thing is missed or argued about.

More Urza's Saga! More Urza's Saga! No but seriously - I never experienced that card in a game, I presume it can be an oppresive feeling to play against it, but from a viewer perspective? Love it! Multiple interesting decision points on one card, and Karnstructs are just fun themselves. Big fan!

Time to start a charity fundraiser where the prize is playing Nelly some magic. Those smooth tones, that chill poker face where you don't know if you've won or if he's going to reach across the table and stab you in the heart. The thrill of those moments would make it worth every penny.

I've been obsessed with making Chthonian Nightmare work in Modern lately. The best tech I've found with it so far is Grist, Voracious Larva. He's really easy to flip with nightmare effects, makes bodies to sac to nightmares after flipping, and fills your graveyard. As well as being a disenchant, a great blocker, and having a game winning ultimate.

i suffer from the same thing as serge. my brain goes "how can i maximize my value?" or "how can i get *THIS* to happen?" rather than "how can i win the game?" or "does this lose me the game?"

Serge's comments ~22:30 is how I feel too. I've been thinking a lot about "Magic players tend to not invest enough in their future" and trying to think through a shift in mentality similar to what he described. Right now I want to make the best choices I can given current boardstate and cards but I'd love to transition that into "how do I set this up to win."

That second game is my problem with the Synthesizer. It feels like you have to make the deck worse to try and increase the odds of triggering it, and then you still don't hit anything that triggers it.

The problem with the Initiative is that it was made for Commander, a multiplayer format where you're expected to have 3 opponents and 40 life. When you take it into 1v1, it becomes MUCH more potent.
