Why are people reaching for the lowest hanging fruit on the tree by pointing at the LeBron thing as to why they aren't bringing him back??? It has NOTHING to do with that. It's because he asked for more than they're willing to give and then acting erratically thereafter. The result of the season has NOTHING to do with it. Shannon is typically a consummate professional but his disdain for Ja won't allow him to be when it comes to him. He takes every opportunity to shoot at Ja.

Dillion Brooks was in Memphis before Ja and JJJ. He was apart of the rebuild and the rebranding. He was a vet on that team that helped young guys. What happened in the first round doesn't take away from that nor does it take away from the bigger issue that Unc is referring to. DB is 100% being used as a scapegoat and free agents will take note of this.

Like it or not he was an anchor (in a bad way) the whole series… the biggest reason they’re doing this is because of his attitude, on the court actions, and his off the court comments (not just the lbj one)…. And he’s not nearly the player JA morant is, I bring this up because JA won’t be reprimanded or threatened because he’s the talent and the face of that organization. i'm glad someone as big as Shannon is saying this too. Dillion brought more excitement, storyline and entertainment to this matchup which = to more views. Obviously he didn't play super well but for the team to throw him under the bus and make it seem like their loss was all on him is b.s. I agree 100% with Shannon. I believe Dillion played his heart out. It's not like he was just talking and then being lazy. He tried to back it up and he is still young. Why not help him (as the coach) develop into a better player and learn from his mistakes? Clearly he was asking for a bigger role which would mean adding more to his game...

As funny as it’s been to make fun of Dillon Brooks, and it definitely has been funny, they are 100% trying to use him as the scapegoat. The entire Grizzlies team chirps. In fact, their culture of being unlikable started last season. It wasn’t Dillon Brooks saying that the Grizzlies live rent free in the Warriors head. It also wasn’t Dillion Brooks that exposed on IG that rhey posted the Draymond Green quote in the locker room on them getting their “reality check.” It also wasn’t Dillion Brooks that said that he is “fine in the west!” Also, last time I checked, Dillon Brooks wasn’t the only one on that team that got blown out by 40 points in an elimination game. He was just the easy one to cut bait with and throw under the bus as he had the spotlight on him in the last few weeks, however, their entire culture is the problem. So scapegoating one guy is not cool.

Everybody on the team played trash game 6. Honestly, I am happy we are not signing brooks again. But we also need to get rid of Jenkins as the coach. He did a good job getting the team to this point, but he has shown me he does not have what it takes to coach in the playoffs. They went into that series unprepared. He ran the same plays and rotations all series that didn't work. How are we going to shoot all them threes and nobody can shoot them consistently? Our bench sucked, again. JJJ got punked from game 3 to game 6. But of course blame Ja again. He had one bad game which was game 6, but the entire team sucked. The one person on the team I can't blame is Tillman. He did everything asked of him and extra. I expect them to keep him. But for us to move forward we need to grow as a team and those two guys Brooks and Jenkins are doing just that. Plus the front office needs to do better at acquiring consistent bench and role players

What people are not seeing is the grizzlies are that spot of greatness where the warriors were before the 2015 breakout. That was when they hired Steve Kerr. They're right where they want to be its just about getting everything in order. Brooks he was with old management, and its clear as day he ddin't pan out. I'm with Reggie Miller on this. Brooks made a clever attempt to lure LeBron into trying to scoring 40 on him and thereby leave the game plan outline for the team. Some players are easily tricked into being top scorer and score 40+, but detrimental to the team. LeBron, on the other hand, was too experienced and didn't fall for it. There is no reason to throw Brooks under the bus because he made a clever move that didn' pan out.

Memphis are getting rid of Brooks not to get better, but to fix their image. There was a time when people actually rooted for them, and they started chirping despite not winning anything. Then the entire fan base turned against them just like with Phoenix. On top of that Dillon Brooks also played dirty and the fans definitely don't like that. But even with all that there's no reason to use the term 'under any circumstances' when letting go a player. I also agree that Ja is a much bigger problem, they actually played better without him.

Props to Shannon. He still sat up there and defended Brooks despite their public spat. Very mature. I'm not gonna completely absolve Brooks because he kinda brought this on himself. However, he was NOT the biggest problem with the Grizzlies. Their biggest problem was the culture they allowed to exist in their franchise, especially when it came to their star player. I sincerely hope that Brooks gets signed because his defensive ability in an asset. However, he really needs to do some self-reflecting and improve his game.

The Grizzlies front office have officially made themselves the joke of the NBA. Sure, Dillon Brooks behaved like a clown. But they rode the wave of Brooks, Ja and the teams "bad boy" persona when they were on top. But now they lose & they scapegoat him? Not the star player who threatened multiple people with glocks and said that he wasnt worried about the West??! lol Dillon has been a fool. But injuries got Memphis elimanted. Grizz gonna realize how much they need a player like Brooks once he's gone. Very rare and very valuable personality type in today's NBA to have an enforcer/emotional leader alongside a superstar like Ja.
