Grizzly 700 1 way bearing Issue Don't Go Cheap!!!

Buying a OEM bearing a few months ago would of saved me a lot of money. The bright side is I have a whole new Wet Clutch in the Grizz now. Hopefully she will be good for a while now! About to replace mine on my 2016 Grizzly 700. I have about 2000 miles on mine along with a EPI clutch kit. What happend to my machine is I have lost most of if not all engine braking. Let off the gas on a downhill and it's like im in neutral until I blip the throttle. Getting the OEM Yamaha one.

Could i ask some advice from you. I did the same thing ( chinese bearing) but i started it up for a test sound and forgot to put the outside cage on that covers and steadies everything and immediately sounded f'd up. So here i go doing it over with a yammy bearing and replacing the other bearing in there as well. Is a guy supposed to dip the bearing in oil first to coat it or just fire it up dry, is my question. Thx Wes

Soak that bearing in oil. It’s the engine oil that lubes it so whatever you have in your engine will work

Having issues with the wet clutch on my 03 660 grizzly any tips or tricks when putting it back together. I’m about to spend $800 on new parts from partzilla and don’t want to mess it up.

It’s pretty straight forward, make sure 1 way bearing is on correctly, and the nut on crankshaft holding the wet clutch on is reverse thread.. make sure the gasket surface on your cover is completely clean also.

Hey man my 21 grizzly making loud knocking noise like yours and catching fwd and hard to put on neutral and i turn it off pull the left hand brake to electric start it and would try go fwd every stroke maybe its the one way but not too sure also the bearing went out on the cage that sits over the main clutch

Yea it does sound like your 1 way bearing is going bad or maybe have a weight wedged in your primary keeping it engaged while your trying to start it. If your 1 way is bad it should make a very loud racket when you shut it off

I've got a similar problem and I was wondering if that could cause it to run for a few seconds and cut off

Whats up my friend! Man so mine has the same marks on the slot the bearing rides on its not terrible but u can see it and the one way bearing and my wet clutch shoes are gone if i get the new shoes the springs and gasket along with my OME one way bearing will.i be ok with its being a litter chatterd ? Or i need to get all of it new

If there is chatter you need a new basket. Your one way will be done after a few hundred miles in my experience

Hey do you have change all that for one way bearing? Where did you get your parts? PARTZILLA? I’m in Ohio and Yamaha is a fortune to just look at it. 2019 Yamaha grizzly 700 just started making that noise.

USUALLY, from what I have seen and read; when the one way goes out it will leave chatter marks on either the wet clutch surface, or the clutch basket.. if you catch it soon enough you can be the lucky one that only has to change the one way. Most of the parts I order are through Partzilla… Partzilla seems to always be the cheapest for Yamaha OEM parts.

I have a 98 grizzly 600yfm 4x4 it runs good but ween you go done hill it is like it kicks out of gear and makes a grinding noise it will not hold it self back you got to hold the brakes wood you no if this is my problem on it

No kicking out of gear would not be a symptom of this issue. There is something else going on with your rig if it is doing that.. shift linkage needs to be adjusted or replaced or maybe a worn fork/collar/gear in the trans

I just found this video and ..yup.. I will never ever, to the power of 10, but all-balls bearings again after a pilot bearing failed inside my rear diff less than 100km's after it's rebuild and took out the diff casing. If i can avoid it... no Chinese parts go in my tractor, ATV or vehicles. Id purchase a OEM re-man before selecting china knock-offs if given the choice. That grunting noise you made i know i've heard myself make before.

Yea, kinda sucked. Put a lot of money in parts after that happened. Now it’s been a while and and have kind of forgot about it.. but if I’m doing internal diff/trans/engine work I always use OEM or American made stuff now.. still go with cheap wheel bearings but their easy to change and always catch them getting wore before they do anymore damage so I think it’s justifiable.Thank you for watching!!

No shit Sherlock but until the oil gets to the bearing it's dry until the oil goes thru the small channel to get there. I just meant dip it in oil and install that way it's not dry for how ever long the oil takes to get there.

What I meant in my first reply is, Soak the bearing in oil before installing. Because, just like you said above, it will be dry until the oil gets down that small channel.

The Chinese parts ar JUNK!!!! I bought the “high quality forged rollers” one way bearing and the wet clutch kit and i have that one way bearing CLUNK righ from the get go when you let off the throttle. Everything about these Chinese parts is a Disaster I mean I don’t even know how they can take the time to build something but yet build it so crappy it’s designed to fail! Factory Yamaha parts is the only way to go. It sucks that they are so expensive but when you bolt on Chinese parts, and they fail right out of the box, there’s only one solution and that’s to buy the Yamaha parts. This goes with all other brands as well.
