Similar prices as in Romania, or even higher, except those 5kg rice and pasta, they are really cheap. I expected some lower prices though.
@senyor_artemis9 ай бұрын
Actually, the prices for rice and pasta in big packages are quite high... Here in Belgium, you would get good quality rice for 1 euro per kilo, and no need to buy a huge pack. The same goes for fusilli... So it is more or less the same, or even a bit more expensive, than in Belgium, and that's crazy, cause the salaries in Georgia are much lower...
@maritacherry68719 ай бұрын
Locals buy pasta and rice per kilo as well! Not usually packaged ones. Kilo rice costs less than 1 euro here, around 2-2,50 lari
@senyor_artemis9 ай бұрын
@@maritacherry6871 well it’s still 85 cents, and in Belgium it’s 1 euro and it will be packed already, so you can buy several packs and have “portions”, instead of buying a huge bag of it…

Unfortunately, due to the low income and small salaries, the majority of prices shown in this video are above average or high, at least for locals. There are many other places Tbilisi where you can get the same or better products for way cheaper prices. As for the tourists though, Georgia is a very cheap country and probably a must see destination, especially if you consider how much of different stuff you can see, do and experience there. And I'm not even talking about food or hospitality yet, which are beyond great of course. Edit: Also majority, about 80% of the products shown in this video are imported from different countries since Georgia produce very small variety of things. Well of course I don't mean wine, cheese, bread and some other stuff. There is no problem with that there.

*1:50* Funny you say that, because that's definitely an above average price for a bread, most bread here costs 80 tetri to 1GEL To answer your *8:31* question, it's mostly because Georgia has very bad paying jobs, and thus a low overall price of products, quite a good quantity of which are locally produced. As a result, things that have globally standartized price, like McDonalds, turn out very expensive for us. For us Georgians, these market prices are a fair bit higher than European prices for Europeans, but for foreigners in Georgia, it's an absolute bargain.

i've been to Tbilisi Georgia, in June 2024, even typically i have visited the exact same carrefour market store. Comparing it with UAE's Dubai and Abu Dhabi Carrefour, it looks quite similar, of course in Georgia over there they used to serve Khachapuri and more of the Georgian bread. The fruits, vegetables mostly from Georgia with some from Turkey, and a few from Russia, unlike in UAE's Carrefour where it is mostly International with a few from UAE. Carrefour UAE barely puts any music, but this Carrefour in Georgia, they put a lot of music, especially Espresso by the beautiful Sabrina Carpenter filling the supermarket.

Either you have to work 1 job and spend 1-2 weeks of salary on food or you have to work 2-3 jobs to have some money left for yourself.
