Great video. A lot of these mushrooms seem to have a culinary bend to them. Do you have videos on how to prepare them? I think it would be incredible if I could prepare some (live cooking) at a farmers market. Alot of people would look and tell you how great the shrooms appear but don't buy because they haven't the vaguest idea of how to prepare them or what they taste like. I think if I provided a little folding cookbook along with a fresh tasting, my sales would increase exponentially.

I like that idea! We're not currently doing any farmers markets, as most of our time currently is going towards our new course lessons, but I think a sister video to this on how to cook them would be a great idea, thanks!!

I am a pensioner. I have no practical experience in mushroom growing. I would like to establish a small mushroom growing facility to supply our local farmers market. Could you please let me know about the course that you could offer to get me started?

Hello... great to hear that you're interested in growing mushrooms, and I think that oyster mushrooms would be a great one to start with and can be grown using Low Tech methods, so less equipment and start up costs required. We have an online workshop which is aimed at those thinking about taking the next step, we wish you all the best!! kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5SuloJjoN6cfc0si=MmxQflfSAFtD5MGE

Great info! I have been growing successfully at home, Lion's Mane and Oyster. Have been foraging for 20 odd years, in northeastern Massachusetts. I know that morels are tough in cultivation, but i am very interested in pursuing a trial. Have had the pleasure of foraging large quantities in an old apple orchard, They are so good and unique in appearance. Of course I want to try growing everything...I'm subscribed so will keep watching. Thanks!

Great video...thanks! My preferences is in this order: King Oyster - for the shelf life, Shiitake, Black Pearl, Lions Mane. I haven't tried Pioppino yet...but hopefully I'll do it soon.
@GroCycleTV4 ай бұрын
Nice list! Yeah the shelf life of Kings (and Shiitake) is amazing and gives alot of flexibility. Adding Piopinno to these would be a perfect mix 👌

Have you thought about growing morel mushrooms? They are quite popular as well. I've seen them sold in grocery stores as high as $30 per pound

I'm currently starting a rythmic production with oyster mushrooms. Once that engine is going I am going to come back to this video to see the next type of mushroom I can include in my portfolio :)

Good way to go about it! I'd recommend Lion's Mane or Piopinno to add next 👍

Any benefit to growing in hanging bags vs blocks? Im a block grower but am interested in the hanging bags. Thanks :)
@GroCycleTV4 ай бұрын
Good question! Pros: - no need for shelving (cheaper/simpler) - less cleaning (without shelves) - can do more substrate per bag (less handling/moving bags) - cheaper production cost per kg/lb of mushrooms (if filling with pasteurised substrate) Cons: - limited to pasteurised substrate (if doing bigger polythene/biodegradable column bags) - works best with Oysters (not so well suited to most other gourmet species)

Hellow there , I am back with another tiny question, if I add supplements such as wheat bran, does this increase growth?
@GroCycleTV20 күн бұрын
It can, some mushrooms like supplements more than others - but you just have to be careful as it can make it even more attractive for moulds too... so make sure your sterilisation process is spot on...

They love to grow on a hardwood sawdust... try supplementing up to 20% with bran, or they also like to grow on Master's Mix (50:50 Hardwood Sawdust : Soy Bean hulls)

Sir is it ok if i use cardboard as a substrate to grow oyster mushrooms....🇵🇭❤️❤️❤️🐾🐕
@GroCycleTV4 ай бұрын
Yes you can, but it will produce lower yields as cardboard doesn't have a great nutritional profile. Make sure not printed with inks that contain heavy metals (not usually an issue in Europe/North America)
