I never really understood this sentiment. It literally does not affect anyone what they choose to do with their own food. They bought it, it's theirs. Whether they eat it or throw it in the trash, doesn't affect anyone else. They are only wasting money, not food. And if they make money off the videos, then they can buy more food. So it wasn't even really a waste at the end of the day

I know clickbait gross food content creators aren’t contributing to food waste on a large scale, but god it still makes me mad. You could have made a nice dinner with those ingredients!! I was unemployed and literally starving until a few months ago, and I could not watch these videos because they made me too upset. I was imagining the meals I could make with what they were turning into garbage for views and it made me too sad.

@@loveableheathen7441 Well it does if that food isn't in stock because they bought the last of it. Especially when it comes to the meat. It wasn't that long ago that it was difficult to buy meat and certain other foods. They're not just wasting money, they're wasting the food. They bought it with the intention of wasting it. Meanwhile they could've donated it to a food pantry. As someone who has gone hungry because they didn't have money for food and relied on food pantries to help me get through hard times, this is absolutely food waste.

My Swedish grandmother who was a terrible cook once boiled hard shell taco shells. It was back in the 60s or 70s when Mexican food first started being sold in the Midwest. She saw the hard tortilla shells and thought that it couldn't possibly be intended to be eaten that way. She thought it must be like uncooked pasta, so she boiled them.

A little bit won't hurt, a 20kg dog would have to eat a whole onion to start having toxic effects. There are few things that a dog would only need a tiny amount to be in serious danger - one of those is macadamia, but even chocolate isn't as toxic as we're led to believe - the problem is dog will eat a whole bar or the packaging as well. Cats are a different matter, lots of dangerous things (like orchids), and especially because they're so small - but if your cat ate a bit of pasta sauce they would be fine Fun fact: in many premade store bought pasta sauces there is nowhere near the amount of onion or garlic to do harm to a cat in a whole jar, the tomato is another story, but some tomato is actually okay it's more the unripe tomato that's a worry.

To be completely clear, Garlic needs to be fed in absolute excess to have any negative impact on dogs. The study that concluded that garlic was toxic to dogs fed 5g of garlic per kilo of body weight. That's 60 cloves of garlic for a 75 lb dog, or 7 cloves for a 10 lb dog. A tiny bit of garlic as seasoning isn't likely to cause any issues in a large dog. The dose makes the poison.

The mac and cheese one is almost kinda a recipe, except I KNOW their version is just bland watery "sauce" with a layer of cheese on top. If anyone's curious, you can cook macaroni in milk (about equal volume, a little more milk until covered) with some seasoning, and the combination of cooking down the milk + the starch from the pasta lets you skip making a bechamel sauce, which is the foundation of most home-made mac and cheese recipes. Then add freshly grated cheese and you're golden.

Like my baked mac and cheese is made in a pot and then added to a pan to bake with more cheese on top. If you're gonna make that style of cooking, you wouldn't add cheese yet, you'd do it like a hamburger helper, low and slow... No broths, no baked milk like that (you'd wanna wait to add milk anyway), that shit is gonna separate because it takes FOREVER to make pasta this way... :( I'm a casserole gal, and that's gross. you're right to be worried over dogs eating cheese! my dog once almost died because she developed pancreatitis from eating a small amount of greasy cheese from a taquito, she got deathly sick and it was the scariest time of my life. she is healthy and happy now and we are very careful with the things she can eat safely, but word to all y'all out there: cheese has the potential to be very dangerous for your doggies!

Feeding dogs human food at random and thinking it'll have no consequences is one of the actual bad parts of anthropomorphizing pets that dog owners go crazy on. They aren't human, the bacteria in their mouthes are different, their digestion is different. It's a lose lose, you will both get sick. Like sure, teach your animals to press buttons, but don't be so irresponsible with their bodies!

I'm a dogsitter and the "holy shit the dog just ate something" realization is so real, ESPECIALLY WHEN ITS NOT YOUR DOG Also a potentially life saving tip: If you're unable to reach your vet for any reason, the ASPCA has a 24/7 animal poison control line. I believe it does potentially have a fee, but they can determine if what your pet consumed is dangerous, if they need to go to a hospital/ ER, or if it is something you can monitor at home. They can also give you step by step instructions on what to do and what to look out for in the next few hours.

I made a call once and they charged us 75USD for me to tell them what my cat ate and do their own google searches to look up the plant just to tell us to “keep an eye on it” (everything they told us came up in the first google search too) I was so mad like I should have just taken her to her vet for a way smaller fee 😭
@_wheelofcheese
@_wheelofcheese 4 ай бұрын
@@blinkblondie46 yeah thats the big drawback. imo its mostly useful for things like potential overdoses where specifics matter (animals weight, age, condition, medication dose & brand, etc.) It's best to look for the poison control number on the bottle if it's an animal medication, but for other stuff like human medications or non-prescription drugs, ASPCA is the second best option after calling the vet.

Checked the progress bar, the TikTok was like 5+ minutes long and (you guessed it) they don’t even find the kid in the end.
