I understand, I was the same at 3 years old. Until my mother explained "There are little creatures we can't see. Some are good, but some are bad. We clean away the bad ones because it makes us healthier for longer. That means we should get sick less, and not being sick means more play time. It does not take long and if you sing while you work it makes it fun. But! Not all germs are bad, so you should play and run outside, roll around on the grass. Just wash your hands before you eat ok? TOO clean is just as bad as no cleaning." Since then I've had zero issues with cleaning stuff properly. When COVID hit, I was fine, I washed my hands frequently anyway. After toilet, before meals, whilst cooking, etc. It's been part of my daily life to clean as I go, and it only takes a few minutes. Means much less effort in the long run. My mum used to draw pictures with me when I was a kid, to help me learn things. She did the same for all important stuff. When I got a little older I understood more about the immune system. Unlike some parents who are obsessed with cleaning, my mum had a good balance and made sure I wasn't afraid to get outside and get dirty. So I grew up with a healthy immune system and a good knack for cleaning what needed to be cleaned.

unfortunately (especially in the US) health inspectors are a joke. they just glance at things and if it looks somewhat fine then they won't care. they'd only care if there were piles of rats running around, poop on the ground, etc. everything else? eh, its fine. and sadly, that's allowed and that's considered to be doing their job 'properly'.

Steve from Headhunters bar was sued by his former employees and customers...after Headhunters was fixed up Steve went back and he used the decor he had when he first appeared on the show, his yelp and google reviews were all negative, so the board of health in Austin went in and found numerous violations of bugs, vermin, running around, there was mold under the floors behind the bar, in the drains where the wells are, the Austin board of health condemned the place. Steve still lives in Austin and has tried to open another bar but was promptly shut down. Steve still lives in Austin.

I ran a kitchen in a place like these. Just two cooks 7 days. Although it was a small kitchen it was fully functioning. 800 to 1300 dollars of food a week we bought on average. One thing I learned , you can't teach passion to some people. Caring is half the battle. Having a health department that gives oversight is another. We had them come in unannounced every few months. These places don't seem to have health departments that care. It's not hard to clean. I know Noone likes it in these dead end jobs but it's essential. I hated cleaning but it was a part of the job. And when I quit because I moved, my boss was begging me to stay( because i gave a crap about cleaning and quality of the food)but I had to leave for personal reasons. In the end you gotta care about what you're doing or this is the result..places like you see on the show.
