I like those mess kits, got 3! With it being cool today I did Dutch oven cooking. I made railroad pie, like a slightly thicker beef stew with a nice cornbread crust on top! So good on cool/ cold days!! Kent Rollins would be proud!🤣🤣🤣

I tried making some scrambled eggs in plastic baggies and when I tasted it, it really had an off flavor much like plastic. Maybe freezer bags are better, but I'm going to err on the side of caution. Glad you are doing well.

Hi Blackie, I was wondering if you could use a potato chip bag to keep your food warm. The inside of the bag has reflective material like mylar. Just interested if anyone has ever tried it and had success. Thanks for your video and hope your are doing well.

Thanks for video Blackie. Gonna try this next time I'm out. Glad to see you are doing good. Question, what fuel do you use in the Trangia? Thanks.
@bretjohnson618820 сағат бұрын
Denatured alcohol, usually found in the paint section of the hardware department.
@patriotpreacher4317 сағат бұрын
@@bretjohnson6188 you can even get that in a 5 gallon barrel. Hey in the yellow bottle is good and about the right size. HEET not hey!😂
@bretjohnson618815 сағат бұрын
@patriotpreacher43 Yes, the Yellow Heet is primarily denatured alcohol. The Red Heet is primarily Isopropyl Alcohol which leaves tons of soot and does not seem to burn as hot.
@patriotpreacher4315 сағат бұрын
@ yes, definitely do not use the red.
@BLACKIETHOMAS10 сағат бұрын
correct harward near the paint section use denatured often it will be labeled as fuel

I'm a old cowboy action shooter, have question on percussion revolver. I shoot 44cal 1858 Remington pieta replica, round ball . 451 home cast pure lead, 22-23 gr 3f swiss, # 10 caps. so I make my own wads from 100% cotton layered to get thickness comparable to Dixie wads lubed with homemade BP lube. so on a 95° hot day my powder was getting damp from lube melting . so I started putting my wad on top of round ball in cly. im thinking that would lube barrel every shot in front of boolit, also not had a chain fire doing it this way. so what do think about wad in front of boolit? good or bad I welcome your thoughts on this. Mike
@BLACKIETHOMAS10 сағат бұрын
the wad in front will still do its job of wiping out fouling and adding lube

what comes to mind for the type of beef your talking is the braizilian hereford roast beef or the hormel micorwaveable beef /pork with gravy line up. yes freeze the hormel products. the hereford is room temp stable. got the same match case, have had mine since 1978. was watching another youtuber. on keeping food warm, they made a tea coziy out of reflectics & duct tape. now that i see how much meat you have for dinner... here's a suggestion, go raid arby's when they have there roast beef on sale at 4 for ten$ now a days. have 1 or 2 for lunch. save & freeze the meat from the other 2. recently found up my way, lyolld's bbq ribs in a 1 lb package. about half a slab. probably need the 1qt bush pot for them. as they are a heat & eat item. try heating your plat first for 10 to 15 seconds. should keep your food warmer for a longer time than your food heating the plate an going cold real fast. you need a french roll for dunking in the au jus. that is yummmy. 1st gen mre bread can be turned into a excellent dish this way. did it a few times a mid-rat snack when i had the watch.
@BLACKIETHOMAS11 сағат бұрын
yes they will do well
