This is how the market works. Is it OK? No. This includes in western marketing typically with boy bands. They sell the idea of boyfriend. I’m not saying this with everyone but with teenage girls they have this idea that they are the perfect man. And K-pop CEOs have admitted that this is what they’re selling that they cater towards this idea. This is why companies should normalize dating, fans shouldn’t feel like they own their idols.

I still remember back then when a lot of people were straight up being racist/xenophobic towards the Chinese Kpop idols who, mostly, just couldn't stand their companies' appalling inhumane treatment towards them and sought out more tolerable working conditions/contracts back in their home country. So many people were saying "oh they're so ungrateful and greedy! they abandoned their members and breached their contracts!" Well how about having more respect towards their basic human rights??? It's not like Tao would know from the very beginning that SM would be so cruel to the point of ignoring his multiple old/new injuries and basically not treating him like a human being. Of course he would assume that a highly developed country like South Korea would have stronger occupational health and safety laws than this - which is NOTHING. Basically non-existent. Korean companies could literally get away with almost killing RV's Wendy on stage. You think they wouldn't get away with overworking Tao to death and then blaming it all on his own inability to recover from his injuries? Even Kyulhyung's situation may be less black and white than some people would assume. Yes she breached her new contract which she just extended not long ago, but none of us really know what her (evil) company Pledis and its lawyers had sneaked into the new contract to screw her over. Kyulhyung was clearly implying in her message that she didn't know that she would not even be allowed to film dramas and variety shows in China. Pledis thinks they OWN her while it's clear that she doesn't even need Pledis to be successful. Pledis needs her, but they're just letting her and their other idols' talents and beauty rotting away under its perpetual mismanagement. You think Pledis would have anything better for her and her group to do when she's shooting dramas alone in China? Obviously not. What has this company ever done right to any of its idols, especially its girlgroups??? Everyone has the basic right to choose their safety/health/happiness over those of others. So many Korean idols got screwed over by their companies and and had nowhere to run. Some of them ended up killing themselves, or just completely left the entertainment industry. So I don't get why some people are so damn salty over the fact that those Chinese Kpop idols do have to place to go where they're not as overworked, bullied and exploited in other ways by their inhumane and low-key xenophobic Kpop companies. (I suspect SM has always been racist towards its foreign idols. Even now they would still be randomly rude to its Chinese NCT members just because they can. SM's staff used to cut off Renjun/Chenle and say "don't talk about winwin" when they were just doing vlive and chatting. I know that, for a time, WayV was not considered a part of NCT. But why tf can't they even mention their friend Winwin's name? Is winwin like Voldemort or something?)

A Part 2 would be much appreciated. Perhaps cover some of the earlier lawsuits and/or controversies that occurred with 2nd generation groups. He didn't sacrifice his youth to train and debut only to leave after two years because he wanted to date an A list celebrity like hyuna. When you signed into a kpop company, your in debt with a lot of money that the company invested in your training, and two years is not enough to cover that, and I bet hyuna helped him pay it off. It took Pentagon 4 years for their first win, and one member had to go away for military service, it wasn't easy on them, and they shouldn't have had to hide the hyuna/dawn secret. A part two would be great, but let me clarify something real quick: the fans are caught in between everything. We know that the big thing about these companies is finances and getting rich off the hard work of the groups they “manage” (notice the quotation marks around that word). We love our idols and we want them safe; we are truly on the idol’s side of this argument, but we know the reality of it all. If we do not buy their merchandise and music, the companies will abuse and disband our favorite groups, thus crushing the boys and girls their dreams of being performers and denying the fan’s what we desire most while blaming the idols for the company’s horrible acts. We also know that, as consumers and fans, every single penny that we give to the company to purchase any merchandise is a chink in the armor of our own groups and empowers the companies to continue their ruthless behaviors with our very loved boys and girls. But we ALSO know that if we don’t support them, it is still a chink in the armor of our favorite groups. The companies will not promote or financially care for them. The companies will even go so far as to deny them basic human rights and needs. Our beloved idols, our boys and girls, will live in squalor and be forced to do things that are not just unhealthy or wrong, but downright immoral and degrading. See the conundrum??? We are damned if we do and damned if we don’t as fans. We want to see our lovely idols live their dream and we want to enjoy their successes, but we know by helping them do that we are “punishing“ them even more so under the cruel hands of these management companies. For me, it becomes extremely, and I mean EXTREMELY painful when we speak on the trials of EXO. EXO will always be the 12 loves of my life and I will always support them no matter where they go in their collective and individual careers. Watching the hell SM put them through, to the point where there was infighting within the group, makes me sick to my stomach. They literally pitted the boys against each other; some of it being racially referenced. Chinese against Korean is the evil seed planted in that group and SM should be ashamed of themselves, but they are not. Even the lawyers that those kids hire to help them out are actually lawyers FOR the big companies, so most of the time the idols lose because the lawyers are really on the companies’ payroll and side. I believe that is what happened to Tao, as both Kris and Luhan had their families seek out lawyers for them, if I am correct. Tao was assigned legal counsel. Please know that we fans are at a loss of what to do, but we want our idols to be treated fairly and respectfully.

People need to remember these artists are people and not products. If they fall in love, leave them be if they truly feel it.

Not gonna lie when Kyulkyung was going through her issues with Pledis, I was wondering why she was so active in China and how that could effect her contract rules and whatnot. Whoa

It's so sad that there are so many people willing to exploit young (&naive) people over their dreams. Take for example TVXQ/JYJ or the 2 brothers of the Eastlight, for me personally the 2 biggest scandals.

when its come to lawsuit and idol spoke out and stand up for themselves this video should have start with jyj which consist of jaejoong , junsu and yuchuns lawsuit against sm was the biggest lawsuit ever happened in kpop industry and its changed both fandom and kpop industry . tvxq were mistreated and they were under slave contract thats why these three stand up and win the lawsuit but because of them the legal contract for kpop idols are now 7 years which is really good because after 7 years you can decide to leave or still in the company. but what alot of people dont know is that,even their own fans and media called them as traitor, guilty and more . jaejoong , junsu , yuchun, yunho and changmin got alot of hate but jyj suffered more due to backlist from sm they can't promote their songs ON TV shows and couldn't even do concert in korean so they have to promote in western which is really hard market for asian at that time. the hardship and difficulties they got from sm is so big that they try so hard to overcome all of that with the three of them. and shame on sm for losing two biggest and talented artists xia junsu and hero jaejoong. these two are the real artist along with iu. if you want to know what i mean you can search about their music they made after they leave sm even when they were in sm junsu and jaejoong were the best vocalists, dancer and visual junsu made alot of choreography of their group songs and jeajoong wrote songs for them. and junsu and jaejoong had really bad childhood which make me even respect them now both of them are really rich and jaejoong is the 2nd richest kpop idol (1st being jyp )sorry for my english i can't say more than this anymore because of my limited english i wish newer kpop fan would search about tvxq/ jyj history and get inspiration from junsu and jaejoong.

Basically majority of the company and organisation in the world doesn't care about your individual needs. It is not worth it to sacrifice your life for the company.

It seems to me that they’re just little slaves albeit glamorous ones but nonetheless slaves.they are making a ton of money for their bosses. It’s exploitation at it’s worse
@GotoMaki4Micah3 жыл бұрын
exploitation has been the definition of success since the slaves built the pyramid. you'd think in the social media/information age people would wise up but no, you literally need to benefit from the hard work people do under you (while they barely benefit) to become successful. youd think those woke cancel culture kids would try to cancel the injustices that go on there but they stream it by the billions.

Their Contracts are not good even for artist in America contracts are unreasonable I hope people can get a LAWYER to help them READ a CONTRACT and see if they can get a copy of It to extend the date to have it returned. At the end of the day you be come a brand and companies are going to make money so you better get a high percentage!

while CLC is my second-favorite female kpop group, i do not blame Elkie one bit for standing up against the crap CUBE put CLC through / it does seem that SM really work their artists beyond what's normal or contractual / mature concept aside, i really liked Stella and was a definite fan, but their management agency is crap / from what i have come to learn and understand since becoming a kpop fan, way too many of the people seeking to be an idol come into it with their hearts open, but their hearts and minds closed....and there are way too many 'sharks' in the kpop world that prey on these vulnerable people....the Korean government should come up with a thorough system to review and background check anyone trying to start a management agency, including if they have the proper funds and resources to properly manage, promote, support, and take care of a group of individual artist(s) because the things and crap that these artists have to go through is in many cases, in my opinion, inhuman....
