Never noticed they asked the trivia question about youngest player to homer in a postseason game with the soon to be youngest player to do it up coming up in Andrew Jones.

Greg not happy to be taken out. The Master of Control Pitching. True treasure to watch him pitch.

I have to disagree. Bobby Cox gave his big 3 a choice. He put trust in Maddux Glavine or Smoltz. If Greg came out, it was his own accord.

As a kid my older brother would always get Braves tickets through his job. I bet we went to 20+ games in the mid/late 90s. It seemed like every time we went it would be Maddux pitching. After awhile I was like “oh man, Maddux again ?!?”. I’ve seriously seen Smoltz and Glavine pitch maybe twice, every other time was Maddux. Now I realize how lucky I actually was, although Smoltz and Glavine were pretty good too 😂

Easy to forget that in this series-closing 32-1 blitz by Atlanta the Cardinals had their chance here - the 8th inning was when the Braves could have been had. Gant had been hot and knew how to hit his former teammates and Wohlers was shaky. And had he kept it going the heart of the order was up after him. That was their moment but they missed it.

32-1? Edit: nevermind, I forgot that the braves won the previous game by a large margin. I remembered a big game 7 but had forgotten all about this game 6 score

No pitcher on the planet fielded his position better than Greg Maddux. He might not have looked athletic, but he had unbelievable reflexes and lightning quick hands. He would've made a great doubles player in tennis.

We should've won the World series in 91, won in 95, and 96. 92 and 99 we weren't as good, but we should've won those 2 for a total of 3 in the 90s

Was this series one of the first instances of the on-screen scoreboard graphic? If you watch other broadcasts from prior years and even the various LDS series from 96...you never see that on-screen scoreboard. This FOX sport broadcast is so inferior to other broadcasts of this time in every other way...announcers, pregame hype, etc....but man, the scoreboard was a game changer. That's how you take down Costas and Uecker at NBC if you're FOX sports
@meharinationsportspodcast25823 жыл бұрын
Fox Sports was already using on-screen scoreboard graphic once they obtained the NFC contract from CBS in 1994. Nobody anticipated Fox to create their own sports division, or becoming a top threat to the established broadcasters of ABC, NBC, or CBS. You noticed how CBS Sports began using the on-screen scoreboard beginning with the NCAA broadcasts during the 1997-98 season and once gaining the AFC contract from NBC. Fox Sports changed the landscape of sports broadcasting into what we watch today.

"Probably?" As much as I miss Skip Caray as a person, he said some pretty durp things. Of course it was proven even more incorrect during the 'roids revelations.

Bob Davidson is the biggest joke of an umpire EVER! I watched a Braves vs Cubs game and Bob Davidson called a two balls strikes that were at least one ft off the plate on Andrew Jones and it was beyond pathetic. He was baiting for an argument just to throw someone out of the game. He's narsasistic and has a massive ego problem.
