Great experiment, thanks for sharing! I also had problems with spinach bolting early in AG. Hopefully moving to your garage made a difference.

Spinach needs cool temperature for germinating and growing. If it is too warm spinach might not germinate at all. Try to keep temperatures below 22°C/72°F.

I'm getting a good germination rate with my butter flay spinach seeds. Maybe it depends on the brand? I don't know. For a 6-pod grow unit, I select about 6-8 seeds and usually get about 4 that germinate and I can plant in the aerogarden. I don't want to waste seeds but I also don't want too many at once. But yes, always germinate first before planting and select the seeds that are good. Based on this video, I'm ordering some other varieties of spinach seeds. Great experiment. Thank you!

I tried Spinach using the paper towel method. I got 3 seedlings but all of them died. Will try again as I still have seeds left.

No, I cut them at the flowering stage.

What pump cycle you have set for spinach only aerogarden?

I use the least light setting in Elite models, which is 15.5 hours for flowers. In normal models, it's default i.e. 15 hours.

How long should the roots be for the germinated seeds before I can put them in the AeroGarden?

Half inch to 1 inch would be ideal to transplant easily.

I'm gonna try an experiment with aerogarden pods to facilitate better germination with seeds I'd normally need to use paper towel method with. I will share it with you if I find success.
