When I start spinach seeds 4 outside garden I put the seeds on a wet paper towel as u do, put in a ziplock bag and place in fridge for 5 or 6 days and then plant..works everytime. It tricks them into thinking they have been winter'ed over I suppose. One time I left in for about 3 weeks bc of distractions in life and the whole paper towel took on a life of its own, lol. They were woven through the towel so I just tore the towel in a few pieces and threw then in the garden and covered lightly..it worked fine.

Hello! You wrote that the temperature near your Aerogardens is always between 60 and 70 Fahrenheit. How do you keep the temperature between 60 and 70 Fahrenheit? Do you put ice in the water or do you use a portable air cooler, or something else?
@aerogardenexperiments
@aerogardenexperiments 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, the daily outside temperature where I live is mostly below 60° F year round. So, I set up my heater at 65 so the temperature stays between 60 and 70. There are cases where the outside temperature goes above 70 for 2 (or max 3) months and I add a fan during that time.

Question: Can you put a lid on the jar with water that you are soaking your seeds in for 48 hours, or does the container have to remain open? Thank You for your informative videos!

You can put the lid if you want to block any dust or debris, but please do not put the airtight lid. It needs airflow even though the seeds are submerged.

Once the seeds have been placed in the baggie to sprout, where is the best place to put them? In a dark place, or near the AeroGarden with its lights on? Thank You!
@aerogardenexperiments
@aerogardenexperiments Жыл бұрын
Dark and warm place is ideal. I just leave it on top of Aerogarden light panel. That won't be the dark place, but the light panel is always warm and it helps boost the germination. I am getting very good results keeping the bagggie on the Aerogarden light panel.

Thank you so much for this information! I'm thinking about getting an Aerogarden mostly for spinach and watercress. I'm scouting for information on what the yield is like. I use about a cup of baby spinach leaves per day and a cup of watercress maybe every other day, and am wondering if it's worth using an Aerogarden needing that amount.
@aerogardenexperiments
@aerogardenexperiments 7 ай бұрын
If you want one cup of spinach every single day, I recommend you to start spinach in at least 2 Aerogarden Harvests with full of spinach pods. Start the second garden with one week delay. One more thing is, Spinach is a short crop (irrespective of the variety) and it goes up to a month and half so you need to start over the gardens once they start to bolt. To get a cup of watercress every other day, one Aerogarden Harvest with full of watercress pods will be sufficient. Whether it is worth or not has so many perspectives, but in my opinion, it is 100% worth for me because it is impossible to get fresh greens unless I go to a farm and harvest the greens myself. So, for any greens, it is totally worth growing them in Aerogarden or any hydroponics system.

How do you get spinach seeds from these plants?
@aerogardenexperiments
@aerogardenexperiments 2 жыл бұрын
If we let it go for 3-4 months, it will produce seeds. I had to trash these plants after 2 months due to aphids. Anyways, I don't prefer waiting for seeds in Aerogarden. I just think it's waste of time and resorces. I usually let them go to seeds if I grow outside.

Interesting... Pods will always be wet in Aerogarden since the water flows over the pods every 1 hour and sponges absorb enough water. I agree with soaking sponges for other gardens like iDoo, etc. in which water doesn't flow over the sponges.
