Tony and Huw are the go to guys for everything allotment for me. You can't beat years of experience, trial and error and experimentation. Yes, you want to make your own mistakes, that for me is part of the joy to be honest, failure makes the successes that much more rewarding. However, when you really need some guidance to give you a chance of those successes you can't go much wrong than having a look at their vids!

Great video! Today I've planted moneymaker, supersweet 100, roma, sweet n neat and red robin tomatoes, jalapeno, yellow pepper, and two types of cucumber. They're in the house on my widowsill for now. Worried about the peppers. I've grown them the last two years and whenever they fruit I find a hole chewed in them and then they rot. Earwigs? Greenhouse is full of little black flies today too. As soon as I touch the earth they fly off and all over the place. Even my compost tub was full of them.

Great update Tony and a very useful one, I am starting my seeds off indoors and nearly all have germinated well but after a few days some have flopped over and died I thought possibly not enough daylight or too much water but room temps are always between 16 and 21 degrees , any ideas please ?

Great site!!! .........Potato question. KZbin'rs recommend Newly harvasted potatoes should be left as they are without washing in a cool dark place for several weeks before use. Is there any problem with leaving them in those same conditions for months at a time?
@simplifygardening
@simplifygardening Жыл бұрын
They need a couple hrs in the sun to dry skins then cool dark place frost free can be stored for about 6 months

I'd guess 90% of germination failures are due to lack of heat (I start mine in the airing cupboard) The other 10% over wet, hence rot. Once growing, light becomes the key factor ☺
