Growing a terrestrial orchid Bletilla striata

In this vídeo we will talk about culture and care of Bletilla striata which is a terrestrial orchid. I appreciate that you are joining me today in another vídeo of the #CareCollab series. I love this orchid! It’s cold hardy enough to even grow here in Toronto! Mine died because I forgot to protect them over winter, but several others have them thriving 🤩🤩

Many moons ago........this was my very first Orchid I ever grew. They actually prefer to grow on top of dirt and the psuedobulbs grow in a mulch above the dirt level. The roots grow shallow following the layer of decay between mulch and dirt level.

Hi Fernanda! I really enjoyed your video and learned a lot. I have actually ordered some of these from an online seed company in Canada. I have not received them yet. Now I know where to go to find very helpful information about them. I think I will put them in a pot as well. Can we keep them indoors I wonder but let them get cold over winter?
