Hi, I live in Southern California. Ive successfully air layered a lemon and calamnsi. Ive since put them in a pot 2 weeks ago and started to see new growth. Do I put them under an all day sun or in the shade? Thanks, your videos are very helpful. 😀

whenever you transplant any plant it goes through transplant shock. Some plants will exhibit it more than others, However, place your newly potted citrus in part sun, part shade for the first two weeks to acclimate them and give them a chance together their feet on the ground. Then you can place them in full sunlight. Congrats on your rooting! Keep Growing!

greetings from New Zealand. really nice watching you, your dedication and enthusiasm. just to clarify, rooting the cuttings will never achieve strong root ball and the root system will be prone do dying. so best it to grow a plant from seed as the rootstock. and then grafting onto that rootstock? i dont see much point in grafting onto the rooted cuttings...?

you can do it either way. Calamondin is a very strong plant. The problem with using seeded plant is it takes 3 years to mature before you can graft onto it. You will also have to use a differnt style of grafting technique which will scare most novice gardeners away. The way i shoed in the video is easy enough for most people to perform, You are right about using the deeded plant for the root stock if youhave that much patience and time to wait, thanks for your input,, much appreciated,, thanks!

yes you can but not a good idea, you can graft a seed grown citrus or lime because they citrus grown from seed requires years before they produce their first blossom.

most important is to find a good root stock for this. here is a good start for you,, good luck! Trifoliate Orange (Poncirus trifoliata): This rootstock is highly resistant to citrus tristeza virus and provides good anchorage. However, it tends to produce larger trees and can delay fruiting. Carrizo citrange: A popular rootstock known for its compatibility with a wide range of citrus varieties. It offers good resistance to citrus tristeza virus and nematodes. Swingle citrumelo: Another widely used rootstock, known for its resistance to citrus blight and citrus tristeza virus. It produces trees of medium size.

No, actually Meyer isnt used as a rootstock, however here are a few that are widely used. Trifoliate orange, Carrizo citrange, Swingle citrumelo, Flying Dragon, Cleopatra mandarin (Citrus reshni): This rootstock is commonly used in warm, arid regions as it offers good resistance to salinity and drought. It has moderate cold tolerance and induces moderate tree vigor. These are just a few examples of the rootstocks used in grafting citrus trees. The best rootstock for your specific circumstances depends on factors such as local climate, soil conditions, disease prevalence, and desired tree size. It's recommended to consult with local agricultural extension services or citrus experts who are familiar with your specific region to determine the most suitable rootstock for your citrus grafting project. it depends on the mother tree. If the original plant that the graft was taken from is a dwarf variety then the tree will be a dwarf as well

it will grow fruit, but you will have to wait more than 7 years before flowering takes plant, always get grafter or airlayered citrus
