I’m finally planting! It’s great to be able to play in the dirt again - and in this video, I’m planting herbs for the windowsill and I’m trying something new for planting the onion and leeks. The first of many videos about planting I have planned this year. This is the last of my series the Four Ps (a link to the playlist is at the end of the video). I'd love to know what you thought - did you get anything out of the series? Would you like to see more like this series in 2023?

I'm trying to be restrained with what I sow this month. So far I've only sown my chilli's, peppers and broadbeans. I've also planted out my garlic and I've got onion sets to go out. I've acquired a second hand greenhouse, so hopefully I'll be able to get that up at the plot and can start sowing with earnest!

Oh I'm so jealous (greenhouse)! We almost had one but we couldn't get it taken apart so we had to leave it. I'll be sowing peppers and aubergines in a couple of weeks if I can hold back that long! 😂

I'm watching your videos with interest because although I have an allotment I'm not sure if we'll still have it next year. The leaseholders have rescinded the lease on the land and up to now hove said the land must be vacated and cleared by November this year. Our committee is fighting this but as yet we're still in limbo. I'm determined I want to keep growing food in my own garden if we lose the plot, but we don't want to alter the garden so containers will be the way to go. I'm hoping to gain as much knowledge of how you grow crops and hopefully utilise the information. As for growing this year,at the moment I have potatoes chitting, also at home I have started a few chilli seeds and bell peppers in a heated propogator, also some dahlia seeds that are just sprouting and some begonia sempervivans. I have onion seedlings in the greenhouse at the plot and over the next few weeks I will start some brassicas and lots more flowers for the home Garden and the plot. The busy but fun season is starting, our last frost date is usually the latter part of April so I try not to rush things too soon or I run out of space before the weather is fit to put things outside.

Firstly, I really wish you all the best with your allotment. That must be awful, especially if you've had it for awhile. At least you'll definitely get another season out of it. We grow in containers because we have a greyhound and the lawn is his garden, us that west side is our warmest area to grow. I'm going to be starting my peppers and a few flowers myself in the next couple of weeks. I really want to grow begonia (I think I need to add that to my seed list 😂). Please do keep me posted about your allotment. Fingers crossed, it works out for everyone.

It's the end of March now as I watch your P series videos. They were very well done. I did my Winter Sowing in February. Esther's Gardening Adventure channel has a detailed series how to do it. Basically, your recycled milk or other plastic jug becomes your greenhouse. You plant your seeds in that, leave it outside for nature to take care of it. I had huge success with it last year so did it again this year. I now have seedlings almost ready to plant in the garden in a couple of weeks. With this, there's no repotting or hardening off. Super easy and perfect for someone who has a small home with no room for sowing seeds inside. I'll plant my lettuce, kales and collards into my garden containers first. Then go with whatever is ready next.

Perfect! This was my first year playing around with those. I'm doing a wee update in tomorrow's video. Definitely worth doing and I'll be doing more next year for sure! 😊

Great video! I am so excited, my first ever propagator and grow lights arrive tomorrow and I got my soil today. I also purchased some flower seeds to help my veg garden. I started chitting my potatoes a few days ago. Love your idea of using empty T.P rolls. I am up to my neck in research and still planning what is going where but considering I am doing container gardening like you, I can always move things about if need be.

Thanks so much! 😊 I'm so excited for you! The flowers you have will bring in those pollinators and help keep down your pest numbers, too. And the mobility of the containers is so useful - you'll surprise yourself at how much you shift them.

@@robinscontainergarden Thank you, silly q but do I need a different type soil for propagating? I have a new bag of Miracle-Gro Performance Organics Peat-free Multi-purpose Compost
