As a child in the 70s, I helped an elderly neighbor make seed tapes all winter long. We used the flour glue but used strips of single layer newspaper instead of tissue. Worked well.

Thanks for suggesting newspapers. I didn’t put mine out for recycling today; I’m definitely going to try this for planting carrots! I tried the cornstarch method and wasn’t happy. In another video, it was suggested that you use the spacing to which you think the carrots.

Hi Robin, can't believe it was a whole year since you made this video. Been missing my Robin fix so just checking back some of your older stuff for inspiration. Been collecting up my empty milk jugs but wanted to ask can I use this for HHA seeds like cosmos etc or do they need to be hardy for this to work? Hope you aren't working too hard and hope to see a new video from yoj soon.

Hi, Donna! Aww, you're so sweet to say ❤️ If You're using non-hardy seeds, I would suggest getting a wee bit closer to your last frost date, but you could do a wee experiment with two plantings to see how they'd do. Have you done the milk carton thing before? I really enjoyed doing that last year. Uni is kicking my hiney this year and a long with some changes at work, energy levels are low. But I've got some plans for videos once the weather's better and I can do more outdoors. Don't give up on me just yet - I've a lot in store for this year! 🙂

I have 4 Birdies. I got them about 3 years ago. My only complaint is that my soil sank a lot because of the bottom fill that I put in. Not the beds' fault. I do like them and if I had used wood beds it would be about time to replace them but since they are metal, they look as good as the day I put them in.

Been using Birdie’s raised beds for about 3 years now. Even moved house and took them with me, although I did lose all the soil that was in them. Just grab the ribs and lifted those suckers straight off no problem. But Birdie’s have no cross bracing. Might be a tad harder moving these babies. Had a Quick Look but a bit wary because of shipping from the US and customs duty but I did like the look of the U shaped bed. Just can’t justify that kind of expense, then shipping and customs duty, then the price to fill that enormous bed. Might see a 32” round in my future for use as a squash bed maybe but will hunt around first to see if I can find one in the uk

Good to see you online again and that you're much better now. I'm guessing you know about our weather here since your family is in the South. Several of our nights were at minus 7 degrees F, so I'm not sure how many of my plants actually survived that. I'll be totally redoing my garden this year and also focusing on a few plants instead of so many different ones. I'll stick with my 18-gallon totes and other containers since they're easier to deal with alone, plus they'll use a lot less soil, etc to fill them. I have a garden stool I sit on so I'm not bending over as much. It'll be interesting to see how those work for you this year. Question - how rust resistant are they? Take care of yourself!
@robinscontainergarden
@robinscontainergarden 10 ай бұрын
Yes, my two oldest and their families have been affected, school being out, etc. We've not had a great time here, to be honest. Just been through two pretty significant storms (enough they were named). I will still be using my fabric containers for many of my veggies and fruit, as well. Will be interesting to see how they go. I think the fact they're painted inside and out will delay rusting, so it's definitely something to keep an eye on. It's certainly good to be back! I've missed my people 💗

At least a gallon bag of peppers per plant.. My Bea Balm also grows better in a container. Some rodent has killed the the ones planted in the ground each year so I put one in a container. I harvested my Sweet Potatoes last week. I planted more slips and left them in the soil longer this year. Think I'll add another tote of them next year. Sweet Potatoes are my favorite and I have enough to last me through this winter. YEA! Now I want to grow enough to last me until the next year's harvest. Yes, it's good to evaluate what worked and what didn't. I'll be changing a lot of what I'll be growing next year. Sticking with some of the same and eliminating others. The big question for everyone is What will our weather be like for next year's growing season? Hi! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Baby corn is immature unfertilized corn, grown as sweet corn would be. I've never grown it as baby corn, though so I don't know all the ins and ours of growing it. Would certainly be worth looking into, especially if that's what you want to grow. I'll be growing corn again next year, in a container, and have had good luck growing it that way. Have a look at my video on Hand Pollination (birds stripped my first few tassels) and that may be of some help, too. 😊

Lovely to see a SWWHat! Have you ever been up there? I really want to go one day! Shall follow all your videos with interest, but first I have to catch up with these existing ones!

I have always wanted to, but haven't made it - yet. The hat was a gift from a lovely lady who asked me to repair an old family birthday book, which was falling apart. I didn't expect it, but I wear it with pride and think of her every time I put it on. It won't be long before it's time to start wearing it again! 😊 Welcome to the channel x

@@robinscontainergarden What a splendid gift! I’ve done most of the Shetland Wool Week hats but I didn’t actually get to do this one. But it is on my list! Thanks for the welcome!
