Have you considered breaking up the old root ball to promote aeration and uninhibited root growth? I'm at around 25 minutes but i need to go and finish my work. You might consider raising praying mantis if there's a good source of insects in your garden or nearby gardens.

Those are SWALLOWTAIL butterfly's you see on your lemon plant. They lay eggs on new leaves so when they hatch the babies can eat a soft leaf, then yes...five instars until they form a chrysalis. I raise Monarchs, though milkweed is so expensive, so I love when I find eggs on citrus trees in my neighborhood because their food is FREE. I raise them inside so wasps and fly's don't infect the eggs with their larvae. Just cut off a branch with several leaves and put it in a bottle of water in your kitchen window. When they get bigger set them inside a mesh cage with a thick branch or two and lots of leaves (in water bottle) and eventually they will climb to the branches and form a chrysalis. I right now have two chrysalis that formed last Nov 2023 that have yet to hatch. Hibernation in late Oct-Nov is normal and have in the past had them hatch by April...these guys are late! Enjoy them! They do eat your lemon leaves but they eat very little and will not damage your plants like other worms do.

min 15:00 to all the plant experts, would it make sense to cut the roots? like remove like 20-30%?
@TisabShonen9 ай бұрын
and maybe cut like 30% of the tree? cuz it looks kinda dead to me

I've used Bayer BioAdvance... isn't that a drench? I don't know if you should use it as a spray on the leaves... but anyway, insecticidal soap always works so good on my tangerine trees specifically killing spider mites real good so that is all I use on them. I have learned to inspect the citrus plants every 4 to 6 weeks to check for webbing and kill the mites before they start making the leaves all die.
@TheMelvinWei9 ай бұрын
Mine says to dilute it according to a certain ratio of volume and then spray. It ends up dripping off the leaves which they say not to do to that point but whatever. It seems effective for at least a few weeks.
@thinkingimpaired56639 ай бұрын
Anyway i meant to say i was at 17 minutes. The roots in Root balls can choke itself to death. Inhibiting aeration, water, and growth.

The spider mites are in and around that webbing there. Take a magnifying glass if you can't see them. I can see them in your video with my bare eyes. I grew tangerine trees from seed 7 or 8 years ago and every winter when I bring them back in the house, even though I spray them 3 times with insecticidal soap over the course of 12 days before bringing them in in the fall, inevitably over winter a population of mites begins. This happens every year so I put them in the shower, give them a good hosing off especially underneath side of the leaves, let them dry in there, then spray with insecticidal soap. Do you notice that branch with leaves missing?.... that is from spider mites. Another tip is the leaves are normally very shiny so if you see them getting dull, that is from lack of water. Mine never get the yellow edges like yours is doing but a dilute drink of water with epsom salt in it always makes plants get greener so I would give that a try... just add a 1/4 teaspoon to your watering can.

I hate these mites with a passion, they infest my lemon seedling every winter as well. At least they go away in summer.
@TheMelvinWei9 ай бұрын
I went back and examined the footage and saw them. There's a few obvious ones, but they weren't moving, just sitting in their webs. When I had a really bad infestation in the earliest plant growing series there were thousands crawling nonstop all over.

… I wonder how I wonder why Yesterday you told me 'bout the blue, blue sky And all that I can see is just a yellow lemon tree

Use normal sand, the cocopeat holds too much water, and lemon trees do not like alot of water. I just use normal sand from my yard and some fertilizer, my 3 year lemon tree, looks great, im in a Mediterranean climate.

You did one thing wrong in my opinion. You should've cut branches off and try to root them while the tree was striving or propagate it on the tree. So you'd have the same tree and the same amount of years to it and don't have to start back from zero. Even some of those grren branches that you prune, you should've root them and catch other trees from it. Better luck next time.

Don't feed the bugs. or you may never see your trees producing fruit. You need leaves for proper growth. Diomatieious earth will keep the plants from being invaded. What do you want fruit or butterflies? simple choice in my opinion.... fruit.
