Thank you for this video. I agree with you, engagement is much more important than just having a bunch of ghost followers

Nice video! You have such a smooth voice lmao. I do think engaging with others is like one of the most critical steps. A lot of users will post on insta and nothing else then wonder why they aren’t being seen, but you do have to like go and interact with other peoples stuff partially to be friendly but also because insta will recommend your account when you’re an active user. I know I like commented on a few reels after not posting in months and had a few followers climb out of the drywall lol. I think the best way to tackle social media is to treat it as fun and casual and not stress about what’s posted. For the most part the users I see that succeed the most are the ones that aren’t afraid to be goofy and treat their accounts and followers like friends. It’s a lot easier to find reasons to post when your expectations are like 0 lol

Thanks for your kind words (and your drawing process, I am curious about it). I recently opened a new IG account only dedicated to my illustrations...before I used my personal account (so it was a Frankenstein of posts)...but ATM I have very few followers (not even 50 compared to my personal account). I do not stress "much" since I want to create a community that might be interested in my creations or drawing process. I just recently published my first illustrated book so I am working on my engagement strategies. Thanks a lot mfxdraws btw which brushes you are using?

I feel if you are willing to do reels why not use TikTok, I hate the app but that's where the audience is

All about preference! I use both, personally I find it's way easier to connect with people on instagram and build a community rather then just a bunch of followers, and engagement is much more reliable, plus I like the image posting and stories. But it'll be different for everyone, find what works for you 🤘🏽

Well, as someone with 50k followers it sure is easy to talk like that about reels. For us artists who are just starting out, it‘s absolutely impossible to reach anyone if we‘re not posting regularly and reels play a huge role too. I took like a 2 week break from posting and the algorithm absolutely hates me now. Not even my reels get over 20 views💀

Speaking as someone who used to be a small account with no reach, I've learned that it really is about balance! Generally, once you post something new, your previous posts stop getting pushed as much, so I try to find how long my posts generally get the most interactions, and create a schedule around that. I can fully empathise with you because I remember being bullied by the algorithm all the time 🥲 When I first switched to posting less often, my reach actually dropped like crazy at first! My follow count was only going down for months, and my engagement was dead. What I eventually found is that using mainly posts increaes the engagement of your current audience, and the occasional reel helps reach more new poeple! With patience, it only takes one successful reel to pop off, and if you spread your reels out they're more likely to go viral, while using posts to actually keep your followers seeing your stuff, and stories to build a connection! Ik it's suuper frustrating at first but I wish you the best of luck 💙
