I also have avoided using any non organic products on my garden. I started acquiring roses 2 years ago and so far it's been a very depressing outcome. It just seems there is something always affecting them. I live in a warm/hot humid 9b climate so there's blackspot, thrips and now chilie thrips to deal with. Some roses are in containers and others are in ground but most appear to have something or another going on. After Hurricane Beryl went through this area all looked pretty lush and good. I gave all of them a cleanup, fertilzer and compost feed but now I believe the storm might have blown in more thrips, they look sad.I've picked up the systemic product you showed several times but resisted purchasing. However after watching your video, believe if I want to have pretty roses, I'll have to break my organic mindset or else just give up on roses. Your garden is gorgeous, wish I lived in a climate such as yours.😊

Good points there. Thank you Wendy.

Agreed. In my hot, humid NC 8a climate, my roses don't look healthy without at least 2 treatments of non-organic substances. The Bioadvanced 3-in-1 granular product is fantastic!! It's worth it for gorgeous, luxurious blooms! I greatly admire Olga's ability to garden organically. I'm glad she found out about the local rose rosette disease before it could effect her beautiful garden paradise. 💖🙏🏾🌹

@Yvonne_ennovY Thanks, will give it a go on my most troubled roses. Didn’t realize it's also hot and humid in North Carolina! I can sympathize!

I noticed the product you shared is a spray. Would that also be systemic and only affect the roses sprayed with it? There are also granules but I've been concerned granules would affect other plants such as herbs grown nearby making them unusable for any consumption. Would this mean the spray would be safer to use providing only the rose is sprayed being careful to protect nearby edibles?
@Yvonne_ennovYАй бұрын
Yes @wendy5006 it's humid at least 4-5 months each year. 😑 This morning it's a cool 70⁰F, but the humidity is 94%! I hope you find a treatment that works for your roses. ❤

Can I ask about spraying for bugs. I live in Arizona. We have scorpions and their food is crickets and beetles. I have not sprayed for years and have an abundance of crickets and beetles. Plus I have all the beneficial too. The other night there was a scorpion in my bed. I decided to have a monthly spray of inside the baseboards of my house and only along the foundation of my house outdoors. Is this a threat to the beneficials? I will not let them spray in the garden but just along the foundation. I really don't want to kill beneficials.
@OlgaCarmodyАй бұрын
Oh, gosh, scorpion in your bed! That is horrible. I don't think that spraying the house will affect the beneficial insects, they are interested in flowers, not your house. And definitely something has to be done about your situation!

@@OlgaCarmodyThat was my thoughts. It was a baby scorpion at that. Which means mommy and daddy are somewhere nearby. ugh!

Hi, can you please write the name of the lovely verbena you were enjoying next to the chair? I didn't catch what you said. Thank you! when is the best time to plant it in zone 6?
@OlgaCarmodyАй бұрын
It is verbena bonariensis Vanity. It freely reseeds itself in the garden. you can order seeds now and just throw them in the soil, or do it in spring.

Olga, would the Bioadvance Root drench work just as well as the spray, or do we need to use the spray? Thanks!

You know, I really don't know. Let me ask my fellow rosarians and I will let you know.

It may go against the grain ,but i am faithful to apply the liquid 3 in one systemic on a regimented scheduling. Yes,bio advanced product works wonders and have always produced superb results. I also use silica rich diotamaceous earth through out the season. Applied directly to the foliage and around the base of the rose. Periodic feeding of blood,and bone meal ,and alfalfa meal induces a strong skeletal structure and good fragrance in the rose. Coffee and tea grounds i think also induces good acid in to the soil and entices earth worms to tunnel the soil.

John, you always have good stuff to say. How many years did you grow roses?
@John-wr6yoАй бұрын
@OlgaCarmody only three years but my grandmother and mother taught me in my humble youth. Years later i apprenticed in bio dynamic agriculture and eventually became master gardener for the jane b. Owen sanctuary and blafur trust in new harmony indiana. You can see the fruits of many years of my labor on a bew harmony ind. Webb site.
