The Worldwide Church of God was a Seventh Day Adventist offshoot that forbad all Christian holidays, especially Christmas. What was it like as a child in that cult at the holidays? Listen and find out!

Some families made The Feast of Tabernacles a little like Christmas giving gifts to their children. I remember the holidays and the Christmas topic easily came up with people outside of the cult, then I’d have to explain that we don’t celebrate Christmas. Some peoples reaction is almost like a gasp of “you don’t celebrate Christmas”???? Then they would look at you like you were an alien from another planet.

Glad l have also gone to the doctor. They have saved me a lot of unessesary suffering. And dentists are brilliant. You cant take dental pain its very sore and it doesn't go away. People have died because religious people have told them not to go to doctors. If im ill lm going to the hospital.

My buddt in HS was in this cult also. What about being encouraged or forbidden NOT to join the military?

you're right, you weren't allowed to join the military in this cult. There were a lot of professions that were off limits to cult members, like much of the medical profession, the entertainment industry, and politics mostly because such professions either went against cult teachings or would have required working on the sabbath.

I remember that about no voting so glad to be able to vote red ,We also had to burn those anointed cloths after using them ,In 71 i was in the seventh grade ,When I was 18 I wanted to be a Police Officer and a Male friend of mine in Church told me that I could not be a Police Officer because I could not carry a Gun,

My grandfather knew Herbert W Armstrong and my parents knew Garner Ted. I always thought it waa really super weird that a person could only attend the meetings if invited. That is so opposite to Christianity that teaches " all come unto Me". My parents never had a Christmas tree. Generally the only holiday i could take part in was Valentine's Day. Oh, we made a big feal out of Thanksgiving.

Your a little bit younger than me. I was born into it. All holidays are pagen.... regardless....Mr. Armstrong was an ACTOR....TV black and white....and colour....is programming. Turn it off....even now.....turn it off and think for yourself.... you'll feel better....all religion is mind control......MR. Armstrong was a master at delivering his script.

A cult began for me when I wanted something better than the Bully Baptist. I held Christmas, Easter, and Halloween. I even broke from the Seventh Day Adventist. They were so against our government! My grandpa was a church founder with his brothers and their wives. He was a preacher as the others. He committed adultery , divorced and married his mistress and still PREACHED! Seeking as you and others lead us on paths. God made us stronger. I ❤️ you and what connection you have.

I only found you yesterday and im certainly not trying to be diss respect full to you. I loved Mr. Armstrong and more his wife Loma. I was so sad when she died. There was so much good in that "cult" which hooked people in.....as thwy have to tell the good with the bad. We all need to do our own research and think for ourselves and take responsibility for our own actions. Mr. Armstrong did what he was told. He was greedy, manipulative and self absorbed with illusions of grandure and his message was filled with truths among oll the lies. Thats why people succumed because they had no willpower to fight the programming.

@@raybo1018 honestly, I had no idea there was so much out there on this....till yesterday......and now I've been binging a bit!!!! Wasting time, or not....not sure. My family left when I was 14. I actually got up and walked out of church in Pasadena when my "uncle" Charles, Mr. Hunting, was giving the announcements, and never went back. He said my whole family, including me, a teenager sitting there, had been, " excommunicated" because my dad had committed " spiritual Beastiality". I had no idea what that was, but my boyfriend said....."get up, don't say a word, were leaving".....all eyes were on us, as we walked out down the long the middle isle of the auditorium, church was packed, hundreds of people, and we never went back.

Jesus was probably born in the fall coinciding with one of the fall feasts. If so then his conception would be in the winter. His conception was the miracle. At the time when pagans celebrated Saturnalia and the Jews were celebrating the festival of lights (Hanukkah) the true Light was being conceived.
