We really enjoy your videos. In 1959, my parents moved us from the states to Switzerland for two years. We lived in Montreux and had a chalet in Zermatt which was a very small village and still had an agrarian economy. Every morning we would fetch milk in our steel pot and buy cheese and fresh bread, then try and jump on the back of a sleigh or wagon to get back up the hill to the house. My dad would give me a US dollar for a week's chores and the bank in Zermatt would exchange that for 5 Swiss Francs, a fortune! In 1995, I moved my family to where I lived in Valais and put my three kids in school. We stayed in Switzerland and France for the next ten years. Very glad to see you enjoying Switzerland with your kids, you are giving them an incredible education and fantastic experience, which they will never forget.

Thanks for your comment! You must have had such fond memories of when you lived there as a child. I bet it hasn't really changed that much right? Don't you wish in the 90's your $1 would give you still 5.-chf? Where did you move to after your time in France?

I remember our Swiss experience like it happened yesterday, even though it's been almost 60 years. In '95 I think the Dollar bought about 1.3 Swiss francs, so after a year we moved to France. Europe has changed in so many ways, not all for the good. We're now living in the Rockies where we produce hay. Can't live anywhere without snow capped mountains, grass fields, cows and forests! Would love to go back to Switzerland someday, but have to figure out how to get papers. That's probably changed a lot also since the 50s. Love your videos of Switzerland!

Just came back from Zermatt. Sadly, it was a rainy day, Matterhorn was not visible due to heavy cloud & mist. But the town itself was very charming, with many places to explore. Went up to the summit of the Gornergrat by cog train. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. On a clear sunny day it would have been very sensational

Ah that's too bad you didn't get clear skies. I guess it's hit or miss with the clouds. At least you enjoyed the village and had a great feel for the area.

You were blessed with good weather. The peak of the Matterhorn is often shrouded in clouds. So does Toblerone taste more chocolatey when eaten in front of the Matterhorn?

Hi! I came across your video and We enjoyed watching it. Oh, Switzerland is such a beautiful country to visit. We had been to Lucerne, Nidwalden( Stanserrhorn Mtn) and Lugano in 2013. Do you know how long is the train ride from Interlaken to Zermatt? Thanks!

Hi Dave, Thanks for the comment! You can check SBB.ch for all train times and schedules. It shows it's about 2h22 mins. They're very exact with their times. :) I'm glad you enjoyed watching the video!

It’s super easy to find. There aren’t too many roads there and it’s right along the river. You won’t miss it.
