@@sze9000 It's coming in, they simply need to shoot at the incoming missile, not shoot at it at range. Not the most ideal weapon system to counter them, but it's that or get hit, so let them loose.

The incoming missiles may have been too far away. In the US Navy, we have something very similar to C-RAM; it's called the CIWS, or close in weapons system. Most of the missile strikes were far away, maybe too far for the C-RAM to engage.

This was great, very tense! I'd love to see this exact same mission with some other aircraft just to see how that changes up things. The Raptor, of course, to see if you can get away with less defending and more hunting - maybe even get to a merge and pull off a Fox-2 or gun kill. A Eurofighter or Rafale or something armed with Meteors would be interesting too because of the advantage in standoff capability. They were pushing you with Phoenixes from early on - despite being outnumbered, being able to do the same defensively from a distance could sabotage their approach. Did those C-RAMs ever end up opening fire at all? There was a distinct lack of 'lead laser' fire as that base was pummeled. So how did the fight play out after you were smoked?

The reason you get the master caution after dropping tanks is that you need to change a switch to CAT 1 below the emergency jettison button. That changes some parameters in the FCS because it limits performance when you have tanks or bombs

I saw the Phoenix air-to-air missile up close, it is very scary. He will not let go until he reaches his goal. Many Iraqi pilots were killed while talking because they did not know where the F-14 shot at them. In my opinion, it is the best missile ever made by America. nice job . great video

Hey GS. Why were the CRAM's not engaging the incoming missiles? Many of those missiles, not destroyed by the Patriot Systems, should not have hit that base. Was that to protect the aircraft taking off from friendly fire or did someone not turn them on?

Well, all air defences can be overcome the patriot system is not invincible I think it actually intercepted a lot of the missiles, as to why the cram didn’t engage I actually don’t know. The missiles did come in super steep and very fast, so I wonder if they didn’t have time to react.

CRAM as it is by its name definition is counter to rockets / artillery and mortars which have slower speed ! Not missiles! Usually missiles comes in supersonic speeds and there is no time for short range systems to react and shoot
