The F14 has my heart, but if I had to pick a ride-or-die aircraft, and I couldn't pick an F22, it'd be the F15EX. Incredible radar, incredible power, can limp it home missing one wing....I freakin adore this airplane.
@MichelVaillancourt2 ай бұрын
I think the thing that catches my attention most about this is how most videos with the F22 is just a series of summary executions reformatted to be a slam-dunk competition. All of these fly-outs were actually hard fights that allowed substantially longer time-in-mission than I'd have guessed at.

The F15 tech demonstrator lacks the Raptor's Pratt and Witney F119 engines. There are a few reasons why this type of super-cruise engine should have been used in the F35 in all but the vertical takeoff version. I remember seeing this F15 back in the early 90s in an article. I thought all subsequent F15s would be built similarly. But, like the F16XL, the Airforce didn't use it. Thanks for explaining why.

@@angrydragon4574 it's really just an export (and earlier) version of the EX, giving it a far superior engine and better avionics than the old C or E models. I hear that at airshows (the QA, not sure if any airshows with the EX have shown such maneuvers), it's been pulling off maneuvers you'd normally see from supermaneuverable jets. So while yes, not as impressive as the STOL/MTD, it's an improved eagle that's an actual production model.
