On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.

If the F-16s ever make it out to Poland for Ukrainian pilots to pilot them (the F-16s will never make it off the Polish tarmacs to be used against Russia) the Russians will make short order of them and use there-16 as target practice in a real life shooting gallery) just as the Russians did to Ukraines spring offensive which only lasted 48 hours as Russia took out every Abram's, M1 and other hardware or damaged the others to render them unusable and lost no hardware themselves. This will happen to the F-16s the same way

I don't know. I find strange that in 7 rounds you could only be able to fire an AIM9x once. It usually is not nearly so reluctant to give tone... I think something was happening in your plane.

It's a software simulation. It will behave the same every time. Toxic is just a skilled pilot who makes very few mistakes, so he knows he has to be "collision close" until the F-16 gets too slow to keep up in maneuverability.

TOXIC is an incredible pilot and I love seeing when GS faces him, you see some really crazy stuff from him and he's probably the best match I've seen for GS. So not only is the Su-35 just better at dogfighting, it doesn't help that the pilot is also incredibly skilled. Had it been a less experience pilot I am sure GS would be winning.

Since the F-16 must maintain forward flight, you have no choice but to keep flying and moving forward. Your guns got him in the last run... Clipping his vertical stabilizer off the aircraft... Maybe some hydrolic damage as well. A lame duck for your single kill of the day! 1 in 5? Not the greatest... But you get to run to the kitchen for some hot pockets and a soda!

Well, even though the outcome was negative for the F-16, there was a lot of luck for him to that those gunshots didn't catch him. Another point I think you miss here is that these missiles, at least the western, can be launched head on, so there are really no need to wait for the merge. Which may slew the merge in one direction or the other by putting one aircraft on the defensive from the start. So while these fights may happen, they may also be not as clean as this. Even the BVR missiles will tilt the playing field in one direction or the other. Ukraine's problem with the F16 is that they (the pilots) are not experienced with the aircraft. They are all rushed through training and lack the experience built over years of flying it in active duty.. Russians, however, have a problem with the lack of flying hours. I would believe that the "user friendliness" of russian fighters are not that good either, but I'm not in a position to argue for that. Also, that they tend to exaggerate capabilities a lot. The AA-11 Archer is known better than the 9M, but how has this been upgraded from the 80s to today? Have they received the same developing? Good flying by both pilots, though.

Not sure if this would help at all, but if you hold the enable switch down it will slew the seeker to the HMD instead of the radar track. Seems like the radar track was behind the Flanker most of the time which could be why you weren't acquiring lock

I feel like the modern dogfight would never happen starting 8k feet off the ground. More likely to happen between opponents who are flying under radar and terrain masking to flank enemy formations or stuff like that I get that it's more fun to have some altitude when simulating a fight, but it would be interesting to see how different the fight would be when starting a few hundred feet off the ground. I think the crazy instantaneous turn rates on birds like Flankers and Hornets would matter less as they wouldn't be able to drop the nose to pull hard

I've only played DCS a couple of times and I have never flown a real plane. And, you (GS) are amazing! But, in this and a couple of other videos I have seen (where missiles are available in the merge), it seems like you are slow on guns. In this video, in particular, it seems like, if you had been ready on the trigger (and not waiting for the tone), you could have killed him several times. I am curious what you think about that when you re-watch the fight.
