Fun fact: this movie story is based off the Ballet Swan Lake and they used actual dancers from a ballet company to do motion capture for the characters :) alas, they didn't include the tragic ending of the actual story where Odette throws herself off a cliff in despair 😂😂😂

For most of these Barbie movies, it's meant to be Barbie acting as the characters (idk, she has so many jobs, not sure how she finds time to act too), hence no Ken. Ken is in some of them though, you'll know him when you see him 😂 He's hard to miss.

I don't know if you know this, but "Swan Lake" is an actual Ballet. All of the music in this movie is the original Balletmusic by Tschaikowsky, which is why their are all dancing Ballet (That was actually done with Rotoscope, they used actual balletdancers for the moves) One of the hardest parts for the lead actress in the Ballet is to play the "Black Swan" meaning Odile, when she is disguised as Odette. There was a Movie a while ago called "Black Swan" about the difficulties of dancing both parts

I was never allowed to watch this particular Barbie movie growing up because Tchaikovsky, my grandmother (who is Jewish) for obvious reason hated him yet let me watch “the Swan Princess” with no qualms. Headcanon in our friend group: The 'potion' Ruber buys from some witches in Quest for Camelot is just a bottle of LSD. So Ruber and Co are seeing what we see in the movie, but Kayley and everyone else sees guys jumping in a pit with silverware... and jumping back out the exact same way, chasing her with her family tableware. The entire movie is just Ruber and his minions high on drugs. 🤣

2:11 in most of this gen of barbie the movies are story's she tells like diamond castle is about friend ship and forgiveness and some are just teals and the main girl is barbie herself just playing diff roles with new names in another gen of barbie shes an actress and she has posters of her past movies and she also talks about it but most likely she wont have the same name in another movie if it isn't a sequel to that movie, hope that helps

The reason the end is so shit is because the story follows the original Swan Lake ballet story, in which Odette dying because the prince pledges his love to Odile is the actual ending. That's obviously too dark for a kid's movie, so they added the magic crystal and shit so there would be a way the good guys win.

I love how these movies were given a small budget because they were basicallu ads to sell toys but the people involved put their all into making them. They seriously could have made a basic boring story, witch a boring plot and characters but they did the exact opposite and I'll be enternally grateful lol, these definitely MADE my childhood

Oh man. I remember watching these as a kid while babysitting my even younger sister. I've seen most of the early Barbie movies by osmosis, multiple times. I think I prefer the fairy ones to all the others. Perhaps the mermaid ones as well. But damn, does this hit the nostalgia. I think barbie movies and Winx Club is what made me realize that gender stereotypes are bullshit when I found I could actually enjoy watching them.

This is awesome. I love watching 2 grown men watch my childhood favorite movies 😭😂I hope you continue the Barbie experience. I highly recommend Barbie: Princess and the charm school. Literally was my favorite, I had the book and the stickers that came with it 🤣😭

Barbie movies are very nostalgic I reccomend watching barbie the princess and the pauper, barbie and the three musketeers, or barbie princess charm school. :D
